It's one thing for Sports illustrated to crown us for 2017 (take it with pride and keep your stride) and it's another to crown yourself. Cringe is right. Reminds me of the Texans lettermans. Yikes.

 

Seriously, who the hell does this? PR people actually had meetings and thought this was a good idea.

The entirely league already hates our guts, and takes pot shots. May as well go all in on being obnoxious and hateable. I first glance I didn't like this, but I'm starting to like this franchise's arrogance.

 

Fresno is just the Triple-A affiliate but the day to day operations (including give-aways) are not controlled by the Houston Astros. Still, this is funny and I think a good way to at least introduce the Fresno fan base to the Astros.

 

Andrew Marden is the sports director at KSEE and KGPE, the NBC and CBS affiliates in Fresno, respectively.

I wish they just stuck with their guns and went with the silly promo.

You mean to tell me that THIS-- THIS "premature" anointment is what will jinx the Astros from actually getting a World Series ring? Because we were just rolling in rings for the past 50 years....but no, its a promo by our AAA affiliate that will kill our chances! :roll eyes:

Maybe we need to thumb our finger at fate more often considering she hasn't really helped us out in the past much. Just sayin' :grin:

I figured that they were already made, but Ryan Young, Communications and Marketing Manager, just told me that they were designed, but hadn't gone to production yet.

Fuggin' bullchit.

I really wanted one.

 

Folks need to calm down. It looked like good fun to me, and not in poor taste at all. Should they have rather handed out Atlanta Braves or Chicago Cubs WS rings?

 

That's too bad, I would have tried to get one off eBay as well.
