Wonder if it is Yu Darvish "arm tightness" or Mark Appel "arm tightness?" Certainly don't wish him any ill-will, but this has to scare the you know what out of his camp.
Here's a nice look at Michael Matuella from Fangraphs. His name has been bandied about for the 2nd overall pick.
Won't happen until '17 at the earliest, but at least they're thinking about it: Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association expect to discuss the idea of a draft combine in upcoming collective-bargaining negotiations, hoping access to amateur players’ medical information will help avoid the complicated situation that unfolded with the No. 1 pick in 2014, major league sources told Yahoo Sports. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...bine-to-assess-players--health-223807445.html
Dang, per Keith Law (don't know how to embed tweets), Matuella will have Tommy John surgery. He was definite possibility with our 1-2 pick. Sad news, but hopefully he bounces back stronger than before.

I think this pretty much assures Rodgers going #1. Not sure who I want at 2 now...I'm not really sold on Kirby or any other prospect really.
Matuella has to be an option at 5 still? No way will TJ surgery destroy his draft stock with the way guys have come back from it.
Matuella had back problems before as well, so it isn't just one injury. On the plus side, it should be a good draft to save money at the top and then sign overslot guys later.
wonder if theres 0% chance of us nabbing aiken at 2 or 5. think there is too much animosity? aiken at 5 might be too good to pass up
he has to consent, in writing, prior to the draft to be re-drafted by the Astros or the Astros can't take him...to my knowledge he won't be doing that so its a moot point.
My understanding is that any drafted player that is not signed has to sign a document that allows the same team to draft them again. I am pretty sure that Nix didn't sign, meaning we are not allowed to re-draft him, and I would not be surprised if Aiken doesn't sign either. For all intents and purposes, we should probably move on from any non-signee from last year.
