Not taking any credit from Pop. But I still wonder what the Spurs will look like after Duncan retires. Timmy is the second most important guy in creating the winning culture there. Can Pop hold it together without Duncan's leadership?

Also, a player like Terrence Jones would benefit tremendously playing there. If he ever master the fundamentals, he'll be an all star type player.

 

Guys that are willing to let others take ownership and not be threatened by it are usually quite successful.

Not so sure Terrence fits the profile of a player Spurs are seeking. Low IQ.

DMo however, would fit perfectly in that system. Defends, high IQ, can pass etc.

 

How can you say Jones has low IQ. You don't average 14 points a game without any plays called for you without basketball IQ. He doesn't have much of a jump shot, but he does have IQ.

 

We'll see, but I think it's unlikely. The spurs are really rare in that they found a mild mannered all time great. He was willing to do whatever Pop said and they continued to win. I think the problem the spurs will have is getting buy in when they're no longer one of the best teams, when the stars are gone. Will Kawhi continue to listen to Pop when the spurs are struggling to make the playoffs or will he turn to hero ball? If he, or whoever they're best player is at that point, doesn't everything falls apart.
