They play as a team. Something I wish the Rockets could figure out. We would dominate with our talent.
This...so many people saying "but they are in the east, they wouldn't survive in the west" etc...no, they beat every team, no matter what record or conference. Atlanta should be considered a contender the way they've been playing, everything indicates it.
They just keep beating teams, it's really amazing. Beating the Clippers in a late game the night before and an early scheduled game vs. Grizzlies is damn near impossible! They are 4th in defense and 11th in offense, they will be in top 10 soon and cannot be under the radar anymore.
How is this team so good. A look at their rosters and it's not much to see there. Haven't seen them play much. A quick look over their stat said... very high assists to field goal ratio which likely means, great balance, great passing, great shooting. It didn't look like their team changed much over last year. Amazing how much better they are this year. I'm going to take a guess that 2nd year coach Budenholzer have a lot to do with their success. Probably brought the Spurs system with him and it just took him 1 season to get it in place.
They remind me of the '04 Detroit Pistons: Billups Hamilton Prince Rasheed Wallace Not a super star on the roster, but very solid, and they play together as a team. Always looking for the best shot, and play damn good team defense.
Even the loss to the Pelicans, the way they move the ball and set plays; this team is destine to do some damage in the playoffs.
But coaching isn't that important right DM? It's aamazing what Bud has done with zero star players. They are just a really deep team with fantastic coaching. All of their players know their roles
Injuries, also they were extremely lethargic that game. Tons of "sticky ball" and absolutely no paint defense. This team isn't invincible
