He likes Morey's chances.

"I was just on the phone with another general manager and he agrees that whether Orlando wants to do a deal this week, after July 1, at the trade deadline or whenever, there probably will be no point at which anybody will any more to offer Orlando for Dwight in terms of what Orlando would want...." "It's just a question of when, when does Orlando decide that they want to do this deal."

    Recap:

    -610 host slurps Adrian Wojnarowski

-Adrian says Rockets are in hot pursuit of Howard. Determined to get him. Adrian talked to another GM and he agreed that whenever the Magic want to make a deal there will never be a deal better than what the Rockets are going to have to offer them.

-Question is when does Orlando want to deal? It is inevitable they trade him.

-Big risk for Houston. He wants to go to Brooklyn. He has interest in Dallas as well, but Brooklyn is the #1 option. If he gets traded to a team he doesn't want (HOU) he may take his time coming back from his back injury. Suggested he may use that to scare a team like Houston by threatening not to play.

    -John Lopez talks. (Instant annoyance)

-Picks they have now not going to do it. Still trying to flip those picks.

-May just trade up and get Drummond who they have significant interest in. Have to get higher than 9 to get Drummond because DET wants him there. He's also in play at 6 for Portland and possibly at 7 to GSW. Lots of different opinions in GS about Drummond.

-Why did Dwight agree to the option? WOJ says Dwight will regret opting in. He wants to be loved and he will regret this forever. Says HOU has a chance to keep him if they get him and he gets treated like a savior.

-Suggests the reason he opted in was because he was afraid to be treated like Lebron.

-John Lopez talks about his good friend Fran (LOL) and how Morey can't finish 2nd this time

-WOJ responds with "ideally no" and then goes through some of the good moves Morey has made. Morey knows he has to close on one of the big trades.

That makes no sense. If he didn't want to be treated like LeBron, then he wouldn't have his footprints in any sort of drama, whatsoever.

He wanted to pull a LeBron without being treated like LeBron. Good luck, you gigantic mutant. :p

No one thinks this gets done, not by tomorrow. Time to start turning your attention elsewhere.

Where are the Rockets right now in their pursuit of Dwight Howard?

They're in a ??? pursuit I would say. Very determined. They're putting together a package of assets, whether Orlando wants to do a deal this week, after July 1, at the trade deadline or whenever, no point where anybody will have more to offer to Orland for Dwight in terms of what Orlando will want--draft picks and some good young players. It's a question of when? When does Orlando decide they want to do this deal? It's inevitable but a risk. A huge risk for Houston. One interesting thing with his back injury, let's say...he wants a deal essentially to Brooklyn, he'd like to play in Dallas but they have nothing to trade for him...but if Dwight is traded to team he doesn't want to be on right now, do they decide we're gonna take our time coming back from that back injury, who know when he's gonn play for you. Because of that injury, that could be held out there a little bit. We'll see if that ends up being the play if a deal does happen.

14, 16, 18 won't do it. Houston will keep trying to flip those picks into something higher. It may turn out that they move up in the draft for Drummond who they have significant interest in. They have to get him before 9. Detroit won't let him slip past 9. Drummond is in play with 6 with Portland, they're divided in GS at 7. Houston has to navigate if they want Drummond, where can they get in at? Sacramento at 5, you'll get Drummond there I guarantee you.

He wants to go to Brooklyn. Why did he opt in?

He will regret this. Dwight wants to be loved. He wants to be cheered. He craves it. Thats why I think Houston has a chance if they get him. If Houston gets him and treats him like the savior, and that means a lot to him, and in Orlando, he felt like he was headed down LeBron Avenue and was about to get killed. He does not want to be seen like that and unpopular. If one thing that was going to get him cheered, it was opting in. It was so short sighted. He didn't want to go through the pain of detaching yourself from that place and the people there being upset with him, so the easiest thing was opting in. Now a price to be paid for that. He was looking for an easy way out in the short term to avoid the booing and getting ripped nationally, so he signed that thing.

ROckets have been linked with many superstars, and rumored to finish 2nd on. He can't finish 2nd here, can he?

Ideally, no. He is determined to bring that star in and bring that star an accomplice. Not just one. They felt strongly last year, if the Gasol deal stood, they were getting Nene. You're right, they've been stockpiling a versatile roster and picks, but you're right, and he knows that, they gotta close on one of these guys. In FA, they won't get that guy. He'll go to, lets look at history, LA, Chicago or NY. He isn't going to Houston. To get that guy, you gotta take a risk. They're taking a huge flyer here to try and do this but you're right. At the trade deadline last year, if Orlando had done that deal, I think they would have done it with Houston. It was most the appealing offer for them. Lets face it, the Nets have even less to offer now. Houston will continue to have,...I really think it will be Houston and then obviously Daryl and the organization will be on the clock to be able to keep Dwight if they do do this deal.

    Does this get done?

I think if they decide to move him, I think the chances are excellent it will be Houston. Rob is trying to get his bearings in Orlando. He was working to meet with Dwight, not sure if he has or hasn't yet. I don't know if Orlando is in a place yet, with a new GM, if they're ready to do a deal yet with a new regime in there only a week. I don't think it happens today or tomorrow. July 1 is the next target date, where you say they really have to make a decision. I still think it's very uncertain how Orlando will move on this.

LeBron was crucified for leaving Cleveland. You can blame the decision or whatever you want to blame, but even without the decision LeBron would have been roasted for leaving his ****ty hometown for the beautiful south beach.

Not nearly as bad if he didn't do that TV show "The decision" - I doubt anyone would have been so harsh on him if he just did a low key announcement.

This has to get done by tomorrow. Main reason being is, Orlando would want to dictate who's chosen with whatever picks might end up being.

That's weird. Opting in only delayed it, it doesn't prevent it.

To not get treated like Lebron, you either need to...

    1) Ask for a trade

    -or-

    2) Sign a deal with your current team

    -plus-

    3) Avoid hosting a primetime special about your free agency decision

I think he opted in to keep his bird rights and wants to be traded, not just leave and sign.

    This make sense?

I'll go ahead and blame the decision, because that's where all the hate comes from.

If Bron kept it low-key, he wouldn't have gotten shat on.

Anyone else bothered by the fact this guy is so concerned about his popularity and being put on a pedestal by fans? At least McGrady acted like he didn't care even when he looked like he was going to start crying every time he was interviewed after games the Rockets played in Orlando?

Has a player this concerned with what people think of him ever lead a team to a Championship?

dwight never told media about wanting to go to dallas or brooklyn. Its always his "camp" and these magical "sources" that show up. Him and Deron should just come out on television and say what they want to happen. It will keep this board from making thread after thread on how we all want them.

IF Dwight is traded here, I think it is our obligation to ensure he stays. That means exploiting his greatest weakness. Guilt. We must guilt him into signing an extension. We must shower him with love, like the Messiah has returned. We should throw Heatesque parades as if we are going to win not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, but 6 rings with him here. We will sacrifice lambs and our first born at the alter of the Toyota Center so that his thirst may be quenched.

Don't hold back. If you are at the game, be loud, the whole game, don't sit. Make the Toyota Center rock like we just won the God damned lottery.

Les, get Hakeem and Yao front row seats and a video montage to inspire Dwight and help him realize his destiny -- to succeed 2 of the best centers the league has seen.

Yup. Orlando can talk a big game all they want about patience. But if it's a package centered around draft picks, it makes little sense for them to wait a few extra days, when doing it now means they can choose themselves.

Maybe not, probably not. Woj doesn't think so, Ford doesn't think so, Adande doesn't think so, the Dwight 'friend/insider' on the Magic board doesn't think so, no one thinks he's being moved, not by tomorrow. Still 'too early' for the new management apparently.

As for the three picks, no idea?!

If this is a "wait til the deadline" deal, then we should be out. It has to be done tomorrow so that we can make a run at Williams.
