I think our chances on getting Omer Asik are getting better

Its clear that for the Bulls a player like Courtney Lee could make an impact right away. Asik will not get playing time there, and he will not be used much during the playoffs, so he is probably easily expandable.

My guess is that we will continue to pursue this guy and a trade with Lee and a pick is more likely than not.

I believe that Lee is more important to us than Asik can ever be. Asik is not a bad player, but he has got a long way to go.

Asik isn't playing much in the playoffs because he is a rookie.

He is also the only 7 footer on the Bulls so I don''t see why you think he is "easily expendable".

I too see Lee as a keeper no matter what timeframe we're talking about. Lee plays hard at both ends of the court, is on a cheap contract, and has upside. He makes Kevin Martin expendable when the time is right ...

Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see Asik as a Rocket, but not at the cost of Courtney.
Asik would be a very good get for the Rockets, no matter where he is now. Eventually Omer should be quite the force down low.

Morey already tried that logic on the Bulls FO. It didn't work.

Once Chicago gets bounced and realizes their prized possession played 5 MPG in the playoffs, they might change their tune. I'd still hold out for the Charlotte draft pick in any deal with Chicago.

Why not keep Lee unless we can upgrade?

Bingo. I would rather have the pick than just about anything ...

OP, I think you have it completely backward. The Rockets only chance of getting Asik was the Bulls trading him away at the deadline in a rash move to make a championship run. In the offseason, there is zero chance of this happening unless the Rockets improve their offer.

Given the Rockets height issues, we could use an expandable player.

He would be a good player to have. He has size and is quite athletic. However, there are centers in Europe that are clearly superior to him. It would be better to get one of them instead.

He reminds me of Greg Ostertag. You better have one hell of a power forward playing next to him or he's not in the NBA for long.

Uh not even close lol. He's already a top defender in the NBA and just needs work on his offense, nobody in euroleague is currently a better fit for the Rockets.
