If you are going to suspend him the whole game is what you should do.

Suspending someone for 1 quarter or 1 half is a joke.

Totally agree.. This kid is a disaster waiting to happen... I hope the coaches at FSU can send a message to help this kid and not worry about his talent on the field.

He had his pads and uniform on before the game, the coach sent him to the back and made him take the pads off.

Small but still a turn off at this point

Yep, so far it sounds like he made that decision his own self...

But here's the one thing I don't get, we all know the kid is bad on decision making off the field. So why would the equipment manager set up his locker as if he were going to play?

That's like surrounding an alcoholic with liquor and asking him not to drink.

Not a good scenario from him or the coaching staff..

well, when given a choice, people tend not to prefer the accused rapist and thief, especially those who don't seem to learn from their mistakes.

    just a guess, though.

Apparently Coach Fisher bought Winston a crab leg dinner after the game and removed all the tables from the FSU campus in an effort to keep Winston eligible for next Saturday.

This would have been more believable if he mentioned it at the time a year or ago or whenever it happened instead of not-cooperating at the time, and now bringing this up when he's in a PR mess. Unless there's some evidence to support his claims, there seems to be little reason to believe them.

This is so stinky I actually want Notre Dame to beat FSU next week.

FSU is a joke and should be dragged through the mud. I hope they get exposed and their football program is gutted as a result.

This just looks like it's getting uglier:

    http://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...-documents-101014?cmpid=tsmtw:fscom:foxsports

Looks like both FSU and University Police screwed up pretty badly. And from the timeline reported here, the "gold digger" angle seems less likely. Whether she was raped or not, who knows, but she reported it long before Winston was famous and apparently 5 weeks before she even could identify him. And since he's admitted to consensual sex, we know she didn't just pick a random famous person incorrectly and accuse him.

    Excerpts:

Florida State University officials and Tallahassee police took steps to both hide, and then hinder, the criminal investigation into a rape allegation against the school's Heisman-trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston last fall, a FOX Sports investigation has found.

    ...

She described the apartment complex as “looking like a hotel” that included two buildings with an open area between them. She said the attack happened in a ground-floor apartment, that the door on the bedroom where it occurred was broken, and that the room had its own private bathroom. She described the sheets on the bed as being red and gold, in a polka-dot pattern. She said there were two scooters parked outside, one red, one black.

She told police her attacker then put her on a scooter and drove her to campus, dropping her off, and that she then returned to her dorm and called a friend, who convinced her to report the incident. She said she did not know her attacker.

Five weeks later, after the spring term began at Florida State, the woman was in a class when she saw the man she believed assaulted her. She listened for a professor to call his name, wrote it down, and called a detective.

That was on Jan. 10, 2013.

The investigator had a follow-up conversation with the woman the next day, and within hours investigators knew a lot about Winston, who at the time was highly regarded recruit but, as a red-shirt freshman, had yet to appear in a game or throw a football or baseball for the Seminoles.

But an e-mail obtained by FOX Sports shows that at 12:44 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2013, Tallahassee police detective Scott Angulo, the lead investigator on the case, sent a memo to his boss detailing his discussion with the woman. He listed Winston’s name, birthday, and the fact that he was African American. He also wrote something else: “Winston is a FSU football player.”

“This is a case from 12/7,” Angulo wrote. “I had no real leads; however, the victim called me and said that she believes the suspect is in one of her classes. She was able to find out his name. … Winston does live in the area that she remembers going that night. His complex is set up like the vic described. He is of similar size.”

Angulo noted something else: He already had a phone number for Winston. Less than two weeks earlier, the manager of the apartment where he lived called police and said that the quarterback and several teammates had caused an estimated $4,000 in broken windows at the complex during a pellet- and BB-gun battle.

Tons more in the very long and detailed article.

Even as Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says he believes quarterback Jameis Winston didn't sign autographs for money, a source tells ESPN that the university's athletic compliance department has begun to look into how so many Winston autographs were authenticated by a single company.

ESPN has learned that after the team's 38-20 win against Syracuse Saturday, Fisher approached Winston and asked him if he signed autographs for money. Winston told Fisher, according to the source, that he did not.

Fisher then told reporters he wasn't concerned that an autograph authentication business, which recently was linked to suspended Georgia running back Todd Gurley, also was linked to Winston.

James Spence Authentication certified more than 500 autographs of Gurley, who is being investigated for allegedly taking money for signings.

A cursory search on JSA's website found more than 340 certified Winston autographs.

FSU has not been contacted on the matter by the ACC or the NCAA, but the university's compliance department has begun to specifically look into how JSA received such a large number of signatures.

The company's owner, James Spence, who could not be immediately reached for this story, previously said that a single person, most likely a dealer, submitted hundreds of items signed by Gurley to Spence's company for authentication.

Despite Fisher's theory that the items could have come from many different fans, it's doubtful they came from more than a few people.

Authenticators certify an autograph by attaching a serial number to an item. That serial number then links back to the authenticator's website where the owner of that signature or a perspective buyer can look up it up.

JSA authenticates items as it receives them, and attaches the serial numbers in sequential order. JSA authenticated 76 of the exact same Florida State logo footballs in order with serial numbers J65886 through J65962 and 70 of the exact same signed mini helmets in order with serial numbers J66829 through J66896. The company also authenticated 53 jerseys in row (J66947 through J67001), 38 11-by-14 photos (J66026 through J66064), 18 of the exact same footballs (J66919 through J66936) and 11 signed Rawlings baseballs (J66898 through J66911).

"The items that I've seen signed by Todd Gurley and Jameis Winston, which have been authenticated by JSA, look like they came from an autograph signing," said Martin Buckley, co-owner of Palm Beach Autographs in Florida, which has done signings with Heisman Trophy winners Tim Tebow, Herschel Walker and Charlie Ward, among others. "This is based on the items, themselves, being similar, the quantities of those items, the consistency of signature as well as similar spots in which they signed."

Winston already faces an upcoming disciplinary hearing to determine whether he violated the school's conduct code in an alleged sexual assault in December 2012. Fisher said on Monday that Winston, who sat out the Clemson game for yelling an obscene phrase in the student union, won't miss any games in the meantime.

"The facts are the facts," Fisher said. "There is no victim because there was no crime."

At this point, it kinda seems like the NCAA is itching to peg Winston for something.

Not saying this didn't happen because I'm guessing it probably did, but they're clearly trying to make sure he ends up being suspended.
