man its still going to be weird seeing lebron in a heat uniform...doesnt seem right bosh not a big deal the guy was an all-star, 2nd tier-franchise player but lebron is already on the path to being an all-time great you usually do not see those type of players switch teams in the primes of their career. the only one i could think of is shaq and he didnt have as many "hometown" ties to orlando the way james did with cleveland. man the season needs to start already
Charles Barkley leaving Philly in the prime of his career is another example I can remember, but you're right, it doesn't happen that often.
the sixers sucked and barkley did demand a trade to try to get to a better team, i guess if the sixers got some more talent around him he may have stayed. barkley wanting out is more like the Garnett trade except Barkley was in his prime. Plenty of players demand out if they feel their org isnt doing enough to put together a good team. but it wasnt like the 96 magic and the 10 cavs were terrible teams they had great records and made the playoffs. the help was there in orlando and in cleveland just needed some final tweaks (or in Shaq's case having Jordan leave the bulls again)
too lazy to get into this argument over and over again, but LeBron WAS the Cavaliers. If they kept the same team intact minus LeBron, it would have a hard time making the playoffs. That was NOT a great team in terms of talent. Once again, his sidekick was Mo Williams. People need to understand that. You wouldn't trade Artest, Bynum, Gasol, or Odom for Mo williams. When Kobe's 2nd best was Lamar Odom (way better than Williams), Kobe threw one of the worse fits in NBA history. Also, LeBron waited until he was a free agent. I'm not from CLE so I have no problem with what he did except that it may need to future stars always wanting to leave in this fashion. He would have been a FOOL to stay in CLE and keep being Dan Gilbert's cash cow. I would have taken it personal, too.
