Going to Vegas soon and planning on spending a little time (heh) at the casinos. What games do you guys like to play when you gamble? Blackjack? Craps? Roulette? Slots? What's fun? Any specific strategies yall have? Whatever I play I'm likely to lose, but have fun doing it.
best chance of winning is blackjack and its also fun. always double down on 11. once you start winning, take a break and come back later...same strategy if you start losing.
I wouldn't say your best chance of winning is blackjack, I would say the house's vigorish in blackjack is the lowest of all its games.
House advantage is real low in blackjack and it can be a fairly slow game, so you can stretch your money out the longest. Some people like slot machines, but they're pretty pointless, if you ask me. You could have a monkey sitting there playing just as well as a human. Don't fall for 3:2 single deck blackjack, it's a rip off. Craps can be fun if you're playing with an energetic and loose group of people. If you like to bet on horses or sports, I'd suggest Caesar's Palace. They have, by far, the nicest sports betting area that I have seen in Vegas. If you want the best odds and payouts on gambling, you should probably head downtown. A lot of people don't like Fremont, but It's pretty nice and a different vibe than the Strip. The hotels/casinos down there generally give you better deals because they have to have something to lure the tourists off of the Strip. The light show down there can be fun, too. BTW, stay away from the buffet at Circus Circus.
most fun: craps but you gotta have a nice sized bankroll if your going to seriously play craps..you gotta ride out the bad times....you can win a lot, but you can also lose a lot the best bet in craps is on the don't pass/don't come lines
I usually make money at Roulette and Craps and lose at Black Jack and Slots. I like to play poker but I haven't played at a casino so I don't know how I'd fare.
Black Jack (I'm not a bigtime gambler) Poker is the next game for me, the next time I go to Las Vegas.
I think that is untrue. I've been to the casino with $40 to spend and end up winning 10 times that. I've been down to my last $5 only to come back up and win over a $100. Of course there are times when you do lose and then it would be nice to have a chunk of change in your pocket but it's definitely not necessary.
I enjoy single-deck blackjack. Not as much downtime. Stay away from tables with the automatic shufflers. Unfortunately, those are becoming the norm now.
The best game to play is one called Let it Ride. It is a very friendly game and a slow burn of the cash....and you can get very lucky playing it. The table all can win if the dealer has a pair of 10s or higher, and that is a fun environment. DD
I think you meant to say the 6:5 payout on blackjacks are a ripoff. 3:2 is the standard payout. I play craps and blackjack. The way to play these games is to go in expecting to lose money. The odds are never in your favor, although with craps and bj they're not too horribly against you. The best way to do it is to go in expecting to lose, then get tanked on the free drinks. If you win, good for you. If not, at least you're drunk and having a good time. Mandalay Bay is my favorite spot to play. I like the non-crowded feel to the gambling area there. Plus it always smells nice, not like a smokey crap-hole like the Luxor. I will be in Vegas two weeks from today. Can't f'ing wait.
Craps, ignore the sucker bets. Just bet the passline the table minimum then take the odds to whatever extent the table will allow, since that second bet "pays right" i.e...the house has no advantage.
Yes. Re: craps, I always bet the come, and then I bet 5, 6, 8, and 9 (assuming the come is elsewhere). This was a strategy recommended to me by a friend who'd learned it from Obi-Wan Kenobi, I think, and it worked out well for me.
I've said it once and I'll say it again... I'd love to go to Vegas with you and T_J. This is exactly how I approach the tables.
