According to Kubiak, Hopkins has a concussion.

Gary Kubiak on DeAndre Hopkins: "He got a concussion. He's doing fine. We're obviously going to put him through the protocol."
— Mark Berman (@MarkBermanFox26) August 18, 2013

Starting this thread so we can keep better track of the information. Not even sure if it was officially posted in the game thread.

Hope he's okay, and this isn't a common occurance. He could be the key piece that's needed. Needs to be in the field.

watching it again right now on the DVR, and in slow motion it clearly looks like he's about to juke/spin off the dude coming at him, but homeboy just sweeps him off his feet.

I get what makes him special, but he should probably slow down just a tad bit until he gets fully acclimated concerning what he can and can't do vs the physicality level that is/are NFL defenses.

I'd venture to say that he's more likely to get injured from not going full speed than he is to get injured trying to juke someone after the catch...

Is that the new protocol for the upcoming season? Concussion takes you out of the next week's game?

Yeah, So I have tried to find out more information, but I cannot find any information that details the NFL's specific 5 phase protocol.

You can find the assessments that they give every player prior to the season and the ones on the sideline plus the new requirements for all the medical staff and trainers but not specifics for their protocol.

I would have to assume that they are based on the CDC/International Consensus Guidelines but those guidelines are fairly vague:

this is correct, if at any phase concussion symptoms re-appear the player must stop the activity and restart the phases after symptoms cease.

Only a few people could look good in that shirt and Hopkins is one of them.

I like Hopkins and think he will be great, but every time I see him (especially without pads), I just think that he seems so skinny to be playing in today's NFL.

I know you can say that about a lot of players, but I feel it may hold Hopkins back.

Edit: Maybe I'm just so used to Andre Johnson and our tight ends as our receivers...

    Nuk's the man.

At one point during the broadcast, they showed him mentoring a young Clemson receiver who was down on himself after dropping a ball.

He looks like he would play in the WNBA rather than the NFL.

Hopkins, who has moved to stage four (of five) in the NFL's concussion protocol, could play Thursday against the Cowboys, the Houston Chronicle reports,

Head coach Gary Kubiak is hoping that Hopkins will pass the fifth and final stage of the NFL's concussion protocol this weekend and return to practice Monday, the Houston Chronicle's John McClain reports.
