If you seen shows like Archer/Stella/Whitest kids you know/Upright Citizens Brigade/Strangers with Candy or any early to mid 2000s on comedy central, it's that broad of humor.
Wife and I watched all of it yesterday. Pretty solid across the board, a few dead spots here and there but pretty hilarious stuff.
I find it brilliant. I loved the original and this holds up surprisingly well. The age-difference of the actors provides an interesting layer of comedy. The entire The State crew rules.
Probably not. So much of the humor/gags are based on what you know to be the outcome. This new series is the first day of camp. The original movie was the last day of camp (from the same year). So...in theory, you "know" how it ends. But...the series is giving -- at all times ridiculous -- back-stories to the ending.
It's all part of the joke, they even have that one scene with the girl getting her period and she comes out of the bathroom a grown woman actress.
You can watch it in chronological order plus the movie and let the magic unfold. There's a bit with an iphone that I thought was pretty damn hilarious.
Thru 4 episodes and its pretty good.... Not as good as I was expecting but there are some solid moments.
I love the movie, but it was a real struggle for me to get through this series. I just didn't find it that funny. Part of the appeal of the movie is that it starts as a typical summer camp flick and gradually builds towards ridiculousness. This was just ridiculous from the jump, and it didn't really work for me. There were definitely funny moments, but just not enough of them to keep me entertained.
