I don't see him using his height that much....if we wanted a 6'10" spot up shooter we had one in Novak

Either way I'm sure there is more to his game, but I wouldn't get my hopes up

He seems to know how to position himself. Slow release, though.

This video shows him as spot-up shooter, but other videos I've seen of him (I think it was on Draft Express) show him cutting/slashing more. He's got good foot speed, but he can't sky like CBud. We wouldn't be treated to highlight dunks with this kid.

    @Dei: 6'10" SFs don't need quick releases.

@Arun: He uses his height to get clean looks and rebound.

The best part of his game is his vision and basketball IQ. He doesn't ever pound the ball or take bad shots. He makes his move or moves the ball. He finds the open man on drives and is effective with or without the ball.

By the end of the year, barring trades, Parsons should be backing up the Marcusorris.

I went to LSU so I'm not a Gator homer, but I did see him play a lot. The problem with Parsons is he's terrified of the FT line. If he ever fixes that, watch out. He wouldn't just be make more points, I think he would play way more aggressive and he'd be a nightmare to defend.

He may turn out to be decent as a back up. I believe Morris will be our starting SF with CBud off the bench... Parsons could have been drafted to take that role if they plan on trading CBud in a pkg for a big..

Still think they should have taken a chance on J Tyler with that pk though...

Once AGAIN... people on clutchfans need to do their homework. This video is very decieving about Parson's game. He is not a spot up shooter. Yes, he can shoot pretty decent, but I have watched plenty of NCAA basketball and will tell you that he is almost a point forward. He handles the basketball very well and creates shots for teamates more than anything on offense.

In the NBA he can be a decent three point specialist but he does so many other things better that it would be an insult to his abilities to ask him to do that. With an offense that has as much movement and passing as the Rockets have had the past two seasons, Parsons will fit in great. Willing passer, moves without the ball, efficient scorer, good rebounder, and a natural leader on and off the court.

Defense will be where he will have to work harder than in college. He will get owned on defense most likely like Budinger in his first year, but if he works at it Im sure that can come around in time.

I like this video better, shows his vision of "seeing over guys" as Mchale says and also shows his good rebounding.

The worst thing about parsons is his scoring. I believe he was the Gator's third best scorer. I could be wrong.

Playing the 3 position, he avg. about 8 rebounds a game around two tenacious rebounding guys at the 4 and 5 for Florida.

Also, he averaged about 4 assists per game. The guy is a 2nd Round pick. Relax.

From this video he almost reminds me of a 6'10" Courtney Lee, especially that last move. Judging from this he looks pretty promising, but I doubt there will be much room for him in the rotation.

I think the difference between Parsons and bud is that Parson's all-around game allow him to contribute even if he's having a "bad game". Budinger pretty much disappears if he's not hitting his shot. They both aren't going to be good defensively, so that may be the difference.

I hope Budinger is working hard this summer because he's going to be fighting for his spot all year.

I have been so excited about Morris that I have yet to even comment on Donatas, who I also wanted before the draft, and haven't even had the time to THINK about Parsons.

I believe Parsons will do well for us, and eventually step in as the backup SF. Like RV6 just said, while Budinger is a better shooter, that is the only thing he is better than Parsons at. And as an unproven guy in the NBA, Parsons still has the opportunity to prove himself as more than soft as Charmin on both ends of the court. I don't know if he can pull that off, but at least it isn't etched in stone yet like it is for Budinger.

Another funny note. I remember reading how Adelman came to Morey and told him "Don't trade Budinger, no matter what". That must have been the nail in the coffin as far as player evaluation goes for Adelman when Morey heard that. Since then, Adelman is gone, and I can almost guarantee you that Bud will be traded if Parsons as much as shows a pulse. Buy low, sell high works the best on low risk second rounders, since they are so replaceable. By comparison, I wouldn't use that strategy on a guy like Lowry, who's skillset is much more rare. And of course not on star players.
