Watching Stoudemare makes me sad, because it makes me realize Yao still could be playing in this league. Feels like its been forever since we seen Yao on the court. Good guy that big guy:(

He plays for a coach that won the championship with a franchise player that can't play defense.

Amar'e Stoudemire, disgusted and disappointed after the Mavericks' most lopsided loss of the season, delivered a stern message to his new teammates Tuesday night.

"I came here to win, and we're [4 ½] games out of being out of the playoffs, which is unacceptable," Stoudemire said after the Cleveland Cavaliers cruised to a 127-94 win over the Mavs at the American Airlines Center. "This is something we can't accept. We've got to find a way to refocus. We've got to key into the details of the game of basketball.

"We can't cheat the game. We can't screw around in games and practices and joke around all the time and figure we're going to win games. This is the pros. It's the highest level of basketball. We've got to act that way."

The Mavs are 5-6 since the post-All-Star break arrival of Stoudemire, who selected Dallas over other suitors after receiving a buyout from the New York Knicks because he believed the Mavs presented him the best opportunity to chase a championship.

At 41-25, the Mavs have slipped to seventh place in the Western Conference. The rout by the Cavs was the third time the Mavs have lost by at least 15 points in the past six days, as they were blown out by the Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors on their recent road trip.

Stoudemire, a six-time All-Star in his 13th NBA season, has readily accepted a role as a reserve center/forward for the Mavs and been effective in the role, averaging 11.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game.

Still salty that Amare chose Dallas over the Clippers. OKC, Rox, Cavs, or PDX I would understand. But the Mavs are just a broke version of the Clippers and the Clippers really need front court depth...

Two problems with Amare's rant. First of all, he just came from the Knicks who are one of the worst teams in the NBA. Secondly, did he not look at the Mavs' roster before choosing to sign there? Sure, there's no excuse for losing at home by 33 points to anyone. But there are serious problems with that team that predate his arrival. Dirk is old. Tyson Chandler is aging and is having health issues. Rondo can't shoot. Parsons is a role player. And their depth is weak(although Amare does help in that area somewhat).

Amare never focused much on the details of defense, and his rebounding did not improve after corrective eye surgery in Phoenix. Despite that, I respect his statement. I doubt that they can bring about a profound change which could make them a true contender. At the most, Dallas might be able to upset someone in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Amare couldn't find a fire extinguisher in the Mavs locker room.
