so says Danny Ainge (as well as anyone else on the Celtics). I wonder what we could offer the Celtics to make them give up Pierce. I think that you work with the assumption that Ming and Francis are untouchable. But outside of that, I think that everyone is probably up for grabs. I think that the deal could start at Cat, Griffin, and Rice. But I don't know how much Pierce makes so I can't figure out a workable trade.

They wouldn' settle for anything less than Francis or Ming for him, and neither would I , so it's pretty unlikely. Antoine Walker could probably be had for cheap, though I'm unsure anybody wants him.

i'm still going to be surprised if a 62yr old Larry Brown keeps Darko. He just doesn't seem to have the patience. Plus, I'm willing to bet the Celtics would overpay for Darko...starting with Pierce.

normally, i'd agree with you on this one. larry's not long on patience. but, i don't think you'll see him trading darko, considering larry just got hired. i think he'll want to milk the "honeymoon period" as long as he can, and trading darko (even if it were for an established star like pierce) would definitely cause some ripples.

larry'll lay low long as he's 'llowed...

Francis for Pierce? In a heartbeat.

Mobley/Griffin/Rice for Pierce? In a heartbeat.

    Ming for Pierce? Nope.

I'd love to have Pierce, I'd trade Francis without hesitation for him, unfortunately the Rockets won't.

If the Celtics scouts really believe in Darko, I would trade Paul Pierce.

Why? Paul Pierce is very good player but he won't carry that team to a championship. He's also locked into a huge long-term contract.

The Celtics are just good enough to be mediocre.

    What's the point?

If it takes Darko 3 or 4 years to mature, Id trade Pierce, get into the lottery and count on the scouting department to make the right decisions.

By the time Darko matures, the Celts wouldve added 2 high 1st round selections, just in time for Antoine Walker's contract to expire to add a premier free agent

That's how you build a championship team.

I would say that the Celtics would have to have an unbelieveable offer for Pierce. I bet they are trying to get Walker out of there.
And there is now way I would want to get him. He is the worst 20 point scorer in the league.

Pierce is all that, but we don't need him on this team. Not at the cost of Eddie, Cuttino, Cato, etc.

Pierce is not that big of an upgrade over Cuttino. Besides Cuttino makes almost 1/3rd of what Pierce probably makes.

We need a big guy, not a swingman.

Well Cuttino has always played well vs Boston so hopefully they think more highly of him than other teams.

Can we include Posey in a sign & trade?

Mobley + Griffin + Posey + rights to Badiane = Pierce?

I highly doubt Pierce is out of the door before Walker.

Just saw that Pierce is a BYC player, that's going to make a deal hard to make.

Of course not. Then you'd have to change your moniker.

dont worry though, theres no way Boston would trade Pierce for Francis. Ainge may be stupid, but he's not that stupid.
