Any update on AJ Reed? It look like he got the start on Sunday, but was pulled after two AB and then didn't play last night. Hopefully he didn't aggravate his injury, or at least not too badly.

Astros' J.D. Davis: Named Texas League Player of the Week Davis became the first Texas League hitter since 2012 to win back-to-back Player of the Week awards after hitting .406 with four doubles, four home runs and nine RBI in seven games for Double-A Corpus Christi last week. "It's awesome to get acknowledged for the hard work I've put in, especially after the tough start I had," Davis said. "I feel like I'm hitting my stride now, and it feels good to be squaring up balls and finding holes." Through 37 games for the Hooks, the 23-year-old third baseman is hitting .271/.338/.500 with seven home runs and 24 RBI over 144 at-bats.

Is it just an understood fact that they brought up Moran because theywanted it to look like they had some urgency but still didn't want to mess up bregmans clock? Knowing full well that bregman is light years more ready to actually help.
Sorta reminds me of the experimental years... where scores of undeserved players got call-ups to the majors to see what would "stick". There was thought to be potential with Robbie Grossman... and who can ever forget the Matt Dominguez era. They'll soon realize that wasting a core's prime years by surrounding them with subpar players, when potential upgrades are held back more due to $$ issues than merit, can have serious backfire repercussions. Supposedly following the Cardinals model... but they knew more than anybody as to when to call a spade a spade... and when promising minor league guys deserved aggressive promotion regardless of arbitration time.
I think something unusual will have to happen for Singleton to get another shot in Houston. The more likely outcome for him is that he does well in AAA and is traded to a rebuilding team with a long term need at 1B. I was somewhat surprised he wasn't sent to Philly in the Giles trade. If White or Valbuena suffers a short term injury, and they aren't ready to call up Reed, then Singleton probably gets a few weeks in Houston. If he does well I could see him in the mix for the DH spot next year.
13 of his 16 extra-base hits are home runs. I don't know what to make of it. He's showing the power, which will probably give him a last-chance callup at some point this season. But other than that, not much else, which leads me to think that he's going all-out for the home run ball.
