I need some suggestions (downtown or galleria area) where I can go for dinner during the week....quiet place...good food...not a chain
What happened to Chuck E Cheese's Hoteleria of fun? Need to know whether you're eating by yourself, what the occasion is, etc.
I ended up going north (west) instead of south...went to hyatt Hill Country...great place dinner for 2...and i dont want to run into a lot of people
Italian is not my forte', but I was a fan of Buca Di Beppo. Better leave Italian food questions to people who like Italian.
A great place for two is the Rainbow Lodge. Very secluded, and romantic. My favorite place to go for nice date occasions. they have great steak, but their specialty is game, such as quail, Elk, Venison, etc. A little pricey, but a great place to go. www.rainbow-lodge.com Look at that site, and realize that it is in the Heart of Houston. Blows a lot of people away who haven't been.

rrj has got it going on. NJ Rocket, Damian's is an old family favorite. My folks had their 40th Wedding Anniversary party there. I have eaten there 20+ times in my life and the meal has always been superb. You cannot go wrong there.
I'll add another vote for Damians, great food. I tried a new Italian place on Saturday that was very good, called Ciro's. Not really what I would call upscale, and it's on the west side of town. Family owned though and very good food at a reasonable price.
BTW, how about Antonio's Flying Pizza on Hillcroft and Richmond? I've heard a lot of people raving about this place in the past. Anyone familiar with it, as far as their Italian food?
It's been around since I was in elementary school in the 60s and early 70s. My folks used to sit me and my two siblings at the counter to watch the cooks toss the pizza dough while they sat at a table in the back with a pitcher of beer. Native Houstonians love it because it used to be pretty much the only pizza place in town. There are so many better pizza places and Italian restaurants in Houston nowadays I wonder how Antonio's is still in business. I ate there for lunch 4 years ago and it was extremely mediocre.
my parents used to take my sister and i there as well. didn't they actually used to throw dough across the room to the kids? anyway, there is a place called "two boots" in brooklyn where i take my kids to watch the cooks make pizza nowadays.
Depends on who you are taking but if you want some good food and don't really care about money come down to the downtown area there are some really nice places. Sam Buca - really nice jazz cafe with live music the whole week and good food...kind of pricey. Bossa - i believe its south american food, great atmosphere and good food- pricey as well. Mia Bella - Italian, little more relaxed are not too upscale and it's good and reasnable pricing. There are a bunch of nice restaurants in the downtown area that you should really come out and try and it's really nice if you come on a weekend and decide to stay and get a drink at the many bars.
