So we have a SG/SF rotation of Ariza, Brewer, McDaniels, Thornton and James Harden - and you want to sign Wright and play him over McDaniels?

Why did we even bother re-signing McDaniels - we could have offered Josh any portion of the MLE.

Would much rather take a chance on a smaller or bigger player tbh. I'd even rather hold the spot open given waiving contracts is more painful now that we're in luxury tax territory.

Are the Rockets even planning on signing Harrell? What is the hold up?

JET first. Then Montrezl might be working with the remaining MLE

I don't get that logic. Harrell has a chance to be a real special player maybe as soon as this season, according to Morey. Terry won't find the floor. Why risk losing Harrell in favor of Terry?

Once we use a portion of the MLE to sign Harrell, we're hard-capped. That means we can't sign anyone else, even vet minimum guys. That's why we would have to sign JET first in order to sign both.

So at this point Jet considering his options is the hold up? Wonder if Morey has a clock on that.

Maybe Morey is still trying to convince him to sign a non-guaranteed contract. :p

who are our alternatives just in case JT and Harrell duped us? We all know that Klutch Sports is very difficult to deal with...As for JT, Mavs signing can be an option for him

I doubt Smith would of sign with Houston because he took clippers offer and less money

Free-agent forward Chuck Hayes and second-round pick forward Montrezl Harrell have yet to sign contracts, but both are certain to be on the roster.
The Rockets have made an offer to guard Jason Terry. But given that it would be a minimum contract and with little playing time likely available, the Rockets consider it unlikely he will return

If Terry will not return, the PG market is almost dead, and the Rockets won't have much choice.

It could very well be someone like ish smith, Hudson, Douglas kind of players.

Sounds like Jason Terry isn't quite ready to just ease himself into a relaxing deep bench role and coaching quite yet. Not sure what other options he has, though. He isn't a fit for a rebuilding situation where they need to prioritize giving experience to younger guys. A contender may want him, but it is risky for such a team to rely upon a 38-year-old staying healthy and useful for another year.

Douglas would be good for defense. Ish and Hudson would be ok too.

We will miss Terry, Hayes/Ariza will have to be the leaders in the locker room.

I wonder what we can offer with Marcelino Huertas..the Brazilian PG...seems my hunch is right with the Hayes signing..he'll replace the leadership that JT brought to this team.

A contender does not have to rely on Terry to a large extent. He can play for 5-10 minutes a game, for 50 plus games in the regular season. This can help him to remain fresh for the playoffs.

JT's leadership is mostly in the locker room. A rookie PG can't bring that. All we have is the veteran minimum to offer anyone. Morey will try his best to avoid the hard cap.

Sorry, I misread your post. Yes, Hayes will try to replace the leadership that Terry brought to the team. The point relating to the hard cap remains valid in my opinion.

Probably signs for 1 more year in the NBA with the Mavs. His wife and kids live in Dallas during the playing season.
