Looking to go somewhere to relax. Preferably inexpensive ($1000ish budget). Maybe for 5-7 days. Likely during Thanksgiving week. Might be going solo. Limited to US only because I have a damaged passport that I haven't had time to renew. Any ideas?

Yeah, if you can do a good flight, Puerto Rico or USVI. Never been to either, but they're on my list.
Never been, but it's on EddieWasSnubbed's bucket list as noted above. So, Outlier, in contrast to the islands, do you like skiing? I would recommend Crested Butte. Telluride will be too early in the season, maybe no signifcant snow, yet anyhoot, have a great time! sry we argue sometimes. But I do read and listen to what you write.
Fine, I can probably bump up my budget to $1500. Skiing might not be the stress reliever I seek. Not that I have done it before, but being in freezing cold temperature doesn't seem too relaxing. I can imagine it might be fun though with a couple friends... but it's very likely I am going solo. And you're fine, heypartner. I don't take message boards too seriously. People are much different in person, and I'm sure we would get along just fine as I do with most people in real life. ...GO SPURS!!! SPURS RULE!!! lol
Never been there, like I said, but I've looked into it. Water island seems like an awesome time. As does St John. St Thomas seems cool, too, but the quietness of the other two appeal more to me. A car seems essential, though, which could put it out of your budget.
