Would you trade our #9 and future Orlando pick to Orlando for their #10 and #13?

I think it is interesting that Orlando doesn't want all these picks, due to salary constraints and their efforts to get 2 free agents. If they draft 3 guys, they'll only get to take one big FA.

Now, of course, they have offered all three of their picks to NJ for #1 to take Martin or Swift, and if NJ takes Mihm, they could offer it to Vancouver, and if Vancouver takes Martin, and they still want Swift, they could make that offer to LAC, so I doubt those picks will be on the table.

But let's say that noone takes them up on those offers. I think Orlando sees this as a four player draft: Martin, Swift, Mihm and Miles, maybe Fizer. So they might get Fizer at 5, and if Chicago trades their #4 to Portland and they take Prysbilla, one more of those guys could be there. So they get the guy they want (Miles, Fizer or Mihm).

If Miles and Miller are gone, would you want to trade our #9 to Orlando and the pick they owe us for their #10 and #13.

I would. Even if meant not getting Moiso, although I think they'd take Alexander instead, since they'd already be solid at the 4. After the first 5 guys, the next 15 are very similar.

So I think we could pick up 2 guys that would be solid players for us. If we did, who would you take?

Here's my list of who I'd take if I had 2 picks, in order, assuming Miles and Miller are gone. I'd want the best SF and PF left on the board, except I have to admit, I think I'd want to grab Stephenson, especially if Moiso was gone. If I took Johnson, I'd try to play him at the 3.:
    <OL>[*] Moiso
    [*] Deshawn Stephenson
    [*] DerMarr Johnson
    [*] Chris Carrawell
    [*] Jason Collier
    [*] Olumide Oyedeji
    [*] Etan Thomas
    [*] Donnell Harvey

Unless Darius Miles is still on the board (doubtful) I would take this trade in a second. Past that it is all just potential and the way I see it 2 guys with potential is better than 1.

However, I don't think Orlando would do this unless they are really serious about not wanting to take an extra pick cause of cap space.

What would be even better: Orlando just gives us theri number 13 as the pick that they owe us. Then we have 9 and 13.

How about this- If the 2 picks are too much for Orlando to give to move up just one spot, is there anyway we could trade the 9 for the 10 and 13 and simultaneously have Orlando free themselves of their pick obligation to do this. I am assuming the MAgic wont straight up just give us the 10 and 13 for the number 9 alone. JUST a thought!

I would do it, but I don't think Orlando would. Odds are that by the time we get the pick they owe us, it will be in the late first round.

They wouldn't have much to gain by making that trade.

JZ, I think that is what Sherlock suggested(#9 and owed pick for #10 and #13)

In this draft, I'd keep Cato plus #s 10 and 13 over the #1 or #2. Cato plus Moiso plus Stephenson (or Mihm and Harvey) would be sweet.

Seems like one thing we have to consider is that we might be able to add Swift in a couple of years as a FA-- the same way we might lose Francis to the Wizards, Jordan, Holdsclaw and Grandma down the road.

I think trading #9 and Orlando's pick to Orlando for the #10 and #13 is the most realistic trade proposal I have ever seen dreamed up on this board -- at least with the caveats you put in (Orl can't trade with NJ, Van, LAC, etc.). I don't think Orlando would be crazy to take that deal if they really thought they needed that cap space.

Sherlock: I'll tell you one thing...if Orlando was stupid enough to make that deal, I would immediately get on the phone with New Jersey and Vancouver with a Cato+#10+#13 offer.
