Well, the twitter thing didn't help him at all but he did have a bit of a media blitz. For a guy who never logged a minute in an NBA game he got a flurry of press that was generally sympathetic to his story. I'm guessing $3,200 is on the lower end of the scale for this type of work.

No job that anyone should take on willingly.

    Let's see...

    -White screws up
    -White hires publicist
    -White gets some good press
    -White screws up some more
    -White destroys NBA career
    -White refuses to pay publicist
    -publicist sues White

Nope, none of that sounds out of character.

As for the publicist, I'm guessing she figured it was relatively low risk due to the size of NBA contracts should it pay off and the fact that White DID get paid by the Rockets and the 76ers, and still got picked up for 2x 10 day contracts so it's not like the guy is broke.

Just more bad publicity for White.

He's going to have to steal a LOT of laptops to pay back 73k.

In most contract work like this, most likely he is dealing with either a net 30 or a net 45 payment period which might not start till the following month, and its likely that most of the contract work they did for him was between the Rockets training camp and shortly after.

All the other work they did to book him on RealSports, Dr. Phil, or whatever could have been done in that time frame, but not scheduled until months later.

I know in my job when I contract with a client, and their company goes south and can't pay, it can sometimes take 6 months to a year to get resolution, and some-times isn't resolved till year end. Anyone saying China Myers or whatever her name is is stupid just doesn't understand how contracts there size really work. With contracts like that in a professional services industry, its not like buying show tickets over the phone where they get your credit card number at the end of the call unfortunately. I wish it was like that. It would be easier for me.

No real sympathy for China Myers... she did not have a good reputation with the local media here. Ignored them.

    Really?

Publicists don't control your every action and movement, what exactly do you think her job was?? She works for HIM, so if he tells her to go somewhere while he Tweets his hearts content then that is what's going to happen. The fact that she got him exclusive interviews to tell his side of things is what her job is and she did that quite well. If you don't like how he acted then blame his mother not a stranger thats only known him for a couple of years.

    Youre Wrong

The work she did booking him on shows and interviews happens months in advance before the actual interviews air on TV/Radio. She was paid earlier on to start work and confirm her contract with him which is why she continued. Professional services isn't retail where you walk in get your product, pay for it and walk out, I work for a Huge energy company and we never pay stuff on time but our vendors know we're good for it and deal with the wait. To call her an idiot when she's obviously been doing this for a while is stupid. There are a few companies didn't get paid by CSN Houston for over a year who are suing for their money too, are they as dumb as her??

    Can't blame her

She is one of the many who were duped by this con-artist.

Royce has spent his whole life taking advantage of well meaning but gullible people like this PR rep.

Guy is a douche-bag in the worse way and Im glad to see his scam is unraveling

Royce White's career can be summed up by his NBA stats...a couple of fouls and 1 missed shot.
