I don't know how many of you saw best damn show last night, but they had a discussion on Finals prediction. When it came around to John Salley, he predicted a Houston v Miami Finals, which should up ratings because of the Yao v Shaq matchup. He also said that T-Mac is hot right now and that T-Mac and Yao will carry them to the Finals. I just don't remember if he said who would win it all.

that's a bold prediction. As much as I think the Rockets can do very well in the playoffs, i can hardly say they are my pick to go to the finals.

    Can they make it, yes.
    Is it possible, yes...
probable, not as much...I sure hope they do though!

David Stern's dream matchup: Houston vs. Miami

His worst nightmare: San Antonio vs Detroit

It is a bold prediction, but the thing is, a media type never gets any credit for correctly predicting the favorite is going to win, but if they predict a dark horse is going to win and they end up right - they get all sorts of credit and they get to tell you "I told you all and nobody would listen! I'm a genius!"

If they're wrong, generally nobody even remembers.

Stern's dream matchup is Nicks vs. Lakers. opps.

This season, he'd simply be happy with Rox v. Heat.

that is true.. Sterns dream matchup would be Rox vs. Heat because of all the plots and twists.

can you imagine the drama ?

Yao vs. Shaq (young up and comer vs. MDE)
VanGundy vs. VanGundy (lil bro vs. his older bro)
DWade vs. Tmac (rising superstar vs. 2 time scoring champ)

I think it makes for an interesting saga and if marketed well could drive ratings through the roof especially if Yao emerges as a true superstar in the playoffs.

Me too. I'll be amazed if we can beat the Mavs. But I believe and it would be awesome if we made it to the Finals this season!

If the word spreads, the whistles might magically become easier for the Rockets...

Interesting point. Anyone cares to carry a sign to a game that reads "Stern Wants Houston vs. Miami!"?:D

I actually think a Heat series would be more favorable than a Spurs match up, particularly at the 4 position. The Rockets would matchup well with the Heat.

It could happen. Although we have had recent success with the Spurs this year, they DO become a better team in the playoffs. But I have faith that, WHEN we beat the Mavs, we have a legitimate shot at the Finals.

    Think so?

I used to go fishing almost every day when I was a kid. Every time I went I would think "just one fish for the day and I'll be happy." I really meant it - - - - until I caught that first fish.

Let's think about the first fish right now. I'm optimistic that we can get one fish, but we have to go out on the lake and prove it. If we catch a nice fish, then we'll think about getting another one.

Poor Deke if this came true he would have to play Oneal for a 3rd time in the finals. i bet he would be thinking damn i just want to play an average center not one of the best ever.

    :) :(

Aside from Dream and David Robinson, Deke is the best at defending Shaq.
