Rome said he'd have him on the radio later today. Didn't say what time though. I think Morey has been reliable in the past in terms of showing up...

That was interesting that Morey went against a lot of conventional wisdom, and said that although there aren't as many huge names, he thinks this draft is actually pretty deep.

If we could just have the same success we've had with lower picks in recent years, then I'd be perfectly happy with another Patterson, Brooks, or Landry. :p

He has to say that, otherwise how's he going to sell his lower draft picks to teams who are drafting the top 5? That would be a tough sell if he said publicly that it was a weak and shallow draft.

Tell me, why would a top 5 picking team need Morey's opinion to validate their decisions?

Besides he said it was a deep draft and not a top-Heavy one ("absence of lebron"). From a pure talent stand point, shouldn't make more sense to trade down and acquire multiple good players instead of a singular, slightly superior top 5 player?

Depends on what team you're asking and what the team's needs are. You can only have 5 on the court at a time.

I think it always helps if you can make the other team think you believe you're helping them.

So far the T'Wolves seem like the only team entertaining trading their high draft pick if they get the right veteran. I get the impression that the T'Wolves are looking for a veteran center. The only veteran center we have is Miller, will that be enough, I doubt it. Scola's name has been thrown around, but the T'Wolves have a lot of power fowards so they would have to trade away one of them, like perhaps Beasley. We don't want to become like the T'Wolves and have a very young team unless we have a young franchise player, like what Rose and Durant are on other young teams. Will a franchise player come from this draft or just good role players? That's an important question, because that will determine as to what costs will we consider trading up. Another thing Scola is our only low post threat, so McHale needs to coach the other big men some moves just in case Morey trades Scola.

Awesome that the Thibs/McHale discussion/fight was about Chuck and low post defense?? Is that what I am understanding?? Heehee.

Thanks for posting the link - good stuff

Then expect another middle-of-the-road 14th by the end of the season. We need star players or players with such potential. None of the above qualify, including Patterson.
