    http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2012/02/27/Media/NBA-RSNs.aspx

    Bottom 5
San Antonio Spurs FS Southwest -17.5%
    Washington Wizards CSN Mid-Atlantic -19.9%
Boston Celtics CSN New England -28.5%
    Phoenix Suns FS Arizona -36.5%
    Houston Rockets FS Houston -40.5%

Worst in the league. And it's not because of the lockout:

    Stay the course?

What course? Imagine how much worse it would be if we were losing games instead.

This has to do with the success of the Texans, the Rockets not making the playoffs for 2 straight years, and this being the first season where we didn't have Yao or McGrady on the roster.

At least we have moved from 29th to 27th in attendance. Baby steps.

Making the playoffs will help revive interest, even if we make a first round exit.

I guess there really isn't a course; just running in place.

Imagine how much better it would be if we drafted a potential star like Anthony Davis/Andre Drummond/Michael Kidd-Gilchrist instead of Patrick Patterson and Chandler Parsons.

It's because of the lack of star appeal. Yao is gone.

Great idea. Look at what high draft picks Wall and Vesely are doing for the Wizards local TV ratings.

People don't watch a team because it has guys who might be good 2 years from now, they start watching after it has had some sustained success. It is how front-runner fan bases work.

Lol. You think Houston fans know who any of those players are? They'll see the horrible record and ignore the team just like they did the Astros

Much better than the Rockets, who are fourth in the Western Conference standings, despite being the second worst team in the league?

Their local rating is worse than ours. 1.13 vs 1.56.

Cool, I'll start popping the champagne.

And I was talking about the change in rating, obviously.

It's the Yao factor. We had a lot of Chinese viewers who turned away from the team.

It would have been shocking if it didn't go down this year, even if we were first in the conference.

People are watching the opposing team's broadcast because Clyde is so terrible.

You can't manage the basketball operations of a team with the paramount goal of maximizing short term TV rating/attendance, etc. If so, you might as well make all moves based on a poll of casual fans. Do what you think is right to build the team, and the casual fans will come after uncouple years of winning.
