Another result of King Urkel's policies -- $5 per gallon gasoline. Most importantly due to his cowardly printing of money instead of fiscal responsibility. It's an assault on the lower class.

    hope and change -- delivered!

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - You may have noticed at the pumps that gas prices are on the rise again, but just how high they could go might shock you. Prices could hit $5 per gallon by Memorial Day.

For most drivers, paying $5 for a gallon of gas is unfathomable, but that might just be the case by the start of this summer, and it could mean trouble for a lot of businesses that deliver their products to customers.

The website gasbuddy.com is reporting the possibility that prices could near $5 by the start of the summer driving season.

22News visited Durocher Florist on Union Street in West Springfield. They have two vans on the road making dozens of deliveries every day, and say gas prices are already impacting their bottom line. They charge $9.99 for delivery, but that really only accounts for the hourly rate of their drivers. Higher gas prices could mean big changes in their prices.

“It may make us make an adjustment on our delivery charges. We've tried to not increase our delivery charges every time there's a gas increase, but when it takes a hike over 50-cents or a dollar, we may have to make an adjustment,” Durocher Florist owner Peter Soule said.

Regular drivers like Tim Leray of Springfield say they would change their ways as well. “Everything reaches a point of no return. Gas at $5 will be the tipping point for us and we'll just drive less,” he said.

The reasons behind these rising prices are tensions between the U.S. and Iran, an increase in demand for gas in countries like China and India, and refineries along the East Coast shutting down. According to AAA, gas prices in Springfield have risen 40-cents in the last year and 17-cents in the last month alone.

As to estimates on what we could see across the nation in terms of prices? Chicago drivers might be shocked to hear that they would pay as much as $4.95 per gallon, which could mean a long summer of no driving for some people.

    Damn that Obama!'

Seriously, texxx, your trolling has really become underwhelming. You're just mailing it in now.

By the way, you know that we were flirting with $5 gas under Bush right? The only reason we haven't already hit it is because of the recession. Thank god Bush saved us from $5 gasoline by tanking the economy!

those reasons are only a part of it.

dialing up the printing presses, which devalues our currency and keeps Obama from having to make tough fiscal decisions also plays a huge part.

You might want to check out my post about the money supply in the Obama Valentine's Day thread. The money supply hasn't exploded like you think it has.

...at the same rate it's been going since 2006 (when the economy was a raging bull and we had a different president).

The claim that Obama started cranking the presses and caused an inflationary spiral in gas/food prices doesn't hold any water.

    EDIT:
Here's another chart going back to 2000. At what point do you see a gigantic inflationary increase in money supply?

I've disagreed with many of the administration's economic policies, but the truth is none of those policies have been inherently inflationary.

Why would you post a thread blaming obamas monetary policies for 5$ a gallon gas and then post an article as proof that lists several causes for this(none of which being obamas monetary policies)?

You can do better than this man. I'm sure Hightop can point you to a website that'll whip up an article for you specifically blaming Obama if you ask him. Put some effort into this, have some pride. Be the troll we all know you can be buddy!

I think a bigger problem is that the title blames Obama for $5 gasoline when we don't actually have $5 gasoline. All we have is "we might have $5 gas this summer", which also could mean "we might not have $5 gas this summer".

yeah, you're right. we should have constricted the money supply.

It's all pretty funny actually. Some guy posts a graph with, you know...facts, and you respond with a random statement and dismiss how he can post facts. Add a few BOOYAAA BRAAAHHH and you win!!

    1. You claim that Obama is responsible for higher commodities prices because he devalued the dollar by cranking the printing presses.

    2. I show you a chart that says Obama hasn't cranked the printing presses any more or less than his predecessor...leading me to the conclusion that the higher prices are likely a result of something else.

    3. You dismiss the chart outright and change your tune to say Obama should have done something different instead of maintaining the status quo.

I get it. When someone shows you evidence contrary to your point, dismiss it and distort your original assertion slightly so you're never wrong. Genius...

never debate texxx with the intention of getting a point through to him.

just latch on some solid agitating points.
