Coming from England to American in the 1st grade, my mind was blown for about a year as I tried to figure out to multiply from right to left rather than from left to right.
My dad has engineered entire skyscrapers in New York, Boston, and Chicago using just a slide rule. Seeing his portfolios for those jobs was one of the most humbling moments of my life haha.
