McHale always has to be forced to play/develop his young talent. If Bev is down for the season lets pray he doesn't believe he can go with two 37 year olds defensively against the likes of any of the golden era points like Steph Curry, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Russell Westbrook, Mike Conley, Jr., Tony Parker or Rondo. Free Nick Johnson NOW. Hopefully he's the rookie who adds a post season spark like Sam I Am. All we need for Nick to really do is defend - which is his strength. Terry and Prigs should remain on the second unit.
It is time to insert Johnson into a game situation so we can see if he will stand tall or wilt under pressure.
You say he sucks based on what? He's a plus defender, thrives in an up tempo and has a high basketball IQ. He just needs an opportunity. We don't really have another option. We KNOW Terry and Prigioni can defend elite point guards. Nick Johnson at the very least is as athletic & quick as any playoff guard minus Westbrook.
lol McHale would start Dorsey at point before Nick I remember people here thought KJ would actually get playing time
Difference is Canaan Cannot defend ANYONE either. Nick Johnson is a plus defender. That's what we need next to Harden more than a 37 year old.
Johnson will turn the ball over a ton. He's a rookie and he isn't even a natural PG. Getting the ball past half court and then getting it to Harden under intense pressure seems routine when the vets do it, but it'll be ugly when Johnson tries to do it. I'd love to be proven wrong, of course, but I don't think it'll happen. I don't think he is ready.
Based on watching him. He isn't good offensively, he isn't good defensively, he wasn't good in he summer league, he wasn't good in his limited minutes in the NBA, and he isn't good in the d league. he just isn't good. He may get there eventually but to randomly suggest starting hi is beyond stupid.
Dont listen to him. Hes the company man. Whatever Mchale and Morey do he finds a way to justify it. I got 20 of them on my ignore list. Havent gotten any hate rep either.
