ive always been curious about what star wars books to read. i picked up random one at an airport forever ago and i couldnt finish it (was not very good)
I will be watching these while I wait most of the day for the Usher concert ( Earth Day concert to begin ).
Don't read the Zombie Troopers one, it's painfully bad. I tapped out after 20 pages. But I have heard great things about the trilogy he mentioned.
Here's an awesome reaction video... I don't generally care about these, but the dude was stoked. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ayLZk4oNwuQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Someone mentioned the Thrawn trilogy here so I picked them up at half-price and enjoyed them - Thrawn is a great villain.
The only thing I liked about the prequels was Ian McDiarmid. Especially III. The opera house scene with Anakin was money. Spoiler
He was good..and you're right, particularly in that scene. I liked the whole political backstory that was going on leading up to the empire. I liked the lightsaber fight with Darth Maul in episode 1. I actually like episode 3 more than I like Return of the Jedi. But I thought the whole scene where Luke was being tempted to give in to hate during his fight with Darth Vader was great.
I liked the over arching story arc of the prequels. The idea of a republic becoming an empire through fear was the perfect match to the individual passage of Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader. It also was very fitting to GW Bush America. To me the problem wasn't the story but the horrible horrible dialogue, acting and directing. Ewan Macgregor and Natalie Portman are very good actors but they were saddled with such ridiculous dialogue. Hayden Christianson shouldn't be saying dialogue at all. Lucas is a great visionary and a genius with special effects but he is pretty bad as a screenwriter and mediocre as a director. In many ways he lucked out with the original Star Wars. Having seen the rereleased versions it seems pretty clear to me that if he actually could do most of what he wanted it would've been a clunkier movie.
Yeah, I actually enjoyed watching Palpatine turn into the Emperor much more than watching Anakin turn into Vader. There was a scene in one of the prequels (maybe III) where he was looking at a hologram of the Death Star and he put it away real fast as someone walked in. Awesome. I'd still like to see a movie taking place in the 20 years between III and IV. Can't understand why such a large period of time hasn't been covered (by a movie).
Happy Star Wars day!!!! Full article comes out the 7th and they're releasing some other tidbits tomorrow.
