Bill Simmons is leaving NBA Countdown, launching 'The Grantland Basketball Show'

    When he enrolled his kids in his old school in Akron in May, he knew, at that point most of them would have been fairly sure.

    At some point, need to stop seeing them as larger than life box cut outs, they're people first and foremost.

    NBA Countdown has waayyy too short of segments to really have that many voices and opinions on it. The show is designed to ask questions like....

    "Can Kobe really make it back to 81 point Kobe??"
    "Is Lebron now a greater player than Jordan??"
    "Is there a New York Rivalry"

    And not really answer any of those questions, but have those questions lead into the game that follows.

    Bill Simmons isn't a "Promote the Showcase" kind of commentator. Its never going to be free flowing hoops discussion like you can have on a podcast.

    The only person that's ever been on NBA countdown & didn't suck as a TV analyst was Stuart Scott.

    Blow it up, bring Scott back & call up Gary Payton, Baron Davis, Battier & Steve Nash.
