New Jersey teenager threatened with legal action by high school over pro-Palestine activism

For the principal to have the time and mandate to discipline white girls for following and discussing the news, that school district must be really nice and safe; or, in this case, also, have a lotta Jews.

 

Seems like a clear case of abuse against the girl's right and suppressing her free speech. Principal should step down.

 

see that's what happens in a police state culture. every god damn government employee (any level) feels a sense of strength and entitlement. if it isn't dealt with, the "feels" will turn into to truth.

 

The principal is really in a no-win situation. He has no right to control her speech, but the political argument is going to turn his school into the D&D. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

 

I think the principle is required by law to investigate any claim of harassment by one student against another. So it's not so much censorship as it is she claimed she'd reveal the name of the student who unfollowed her, and that student claimed harassment.

NJ has tough anti-bullying laws and we are seeing the results of that being applied here. I doubt anyone gets into trouble over this.

That there was a claim by another student of bullying and the principal had to address it.

No idea if he overreacted or what exactly he did. Nor do I really care. It's 16 YO student who should be allowed to explore her ideas without international pundits and viral media piling on.
