    Expectations were too high. The Rockets re-signed two key players, and shrewdly dumped Ariza before his value completely tanked. They also reduced payroll, which will give them more options at the deadline. Maybe not enough to earn an A, but more than adequate for a B-.

    I think that's about right. Rockets pretty much stood pat. Not deserving of a bad grade or good grade.

    i wish we got ranked lower so the team will have the underdog mentality and beat the pacers and wizards in the middle of the season.

    Completely balanced the roster, by shoring up holes in the back up SG and C, while saving money in the process.

    Drafted well at thier position and resigned key contributors.

    Sorry, but thats an "A"

    What you described is what the team was suppose to do at a bare minimum. It's just average. We didn't significantly improve and didn't do anything spectacular. That by my definition is average. We did what we needed to do and that is it.

    So sorry that is average which is a C.

    very average draft.
    Overpaid a backup PG.
    Salary dump a young starting player.
    Team still have no direction.
    The assets are sitting there for nothing.

    C-

    Disagree, not sure why you think a C is average. Most school averages, which this system is derived from, is in the B range.

    Doing everything the right way is an A.

    Doing things mostly right but a few minor slips is a B.

    Doing things adequately with a fair number of mistakes is a C.

    Doing passable work but a hefty amount of mistakes is a D.

    Not doing adequete work or completely getting something wrong is an F.

    What mistakes did we make this offseason? What moves did Morey make that we shouldn't have?

    The only one that I would think of would be overpaying for Brad Miller.

    I personally think we should have gone after Tyson Chandler instead.

    I agree that C as average is laughable especially if your asian. Only an "A" is average anything below that its the end of your life.

    Anyways despite that the accepted standard has always been:
    A = Outstanding
    B = Above Average
    C = Average
    D = Below Average
    F = Failing

    IMO, far exceeding expectations is an "A".

    If you think the Rockets deserve an "A", what do you think the Heat deserve? A++++++++?

    Also if you really want to get analytical about it lets look at it this way. Let's say Morey had 4 goals this off season and they were all weight equally (which they arnt) but for the sake of argument let's say Morey's 4 goals were:

    1) Reduce the log jam at SF and Cut Salary - Save Money
    2) Shore up the backups for SG/PG/Center
    3) Maximize Draft Pick
    4) Sign a Super Star

    Well 1-3 I agree he did a good job at, despite some may say overpaying for a backup Center and Point.
    But he failed at getting a huge impact super star type player.

    3 out of 4 = 75%
    75% in almost every academic institution is a "C":)
    So I think the C grade we got is fair. We had a average summer and that is it. If we deserve an A what the heck does Miami get? A++++++++++++++++++?

    dude, we're not talking high school grades here.... if A = Excellent offseason and F = terrible offseason i'd say we fell right in the middle of that.

    unless you think the moves morey made will make us significantly better i'm not sure how you think we get an A. Bosh would equal an A. Resigning scola and lowry (at a price) and trading ariza for lee does not.

    I'd give us a B- or C+. Not to thrilled on how the off-season turned out (though it is not over yet). There were high expectations of landing a star. All we really have is a collection of assets, but should do decent until February when I hope Morey goes all in. Iggy, Melo, someone...please.

    I give us a B+ for the offseason.....unless you take into consideration the trade deadline deal for Martin, then it becomes an A+

    how does a trade made at last seasons trade deadline bump up our offseason grade? if that's the case let's include the drexler trade from '95 and knock that bad boy up to an A+++
