The problem is there is a lot of amateur analysis going on . I think Morey is fully aware of the concept of variance . To say that he hasn't invested in shooters is foolish . Players vary in production from season to season . Ariza shot 40% the year before he came over. Thorton , jet , James , Lawson all have shown they can be fully capable shooters .

The problem is people here ( maybe not in this thread , but in general) don't understand the concept of small sample size . The numbers look worse because it's the beginning of the season . It's clear that many of our guys don't have their legs underneath them . This is likely due to not being healthy during training camp . Also integrating Lawson into the starting rotation is going to take time due to the fact that both he and harden handle the ball so much .

Moreyball has been simplified greatly and a lot of that has to due with our national sportswriters and analysts. Our GM and coach definitely know what they are doing , but variables outside of their control have made wins early in the season hard to come by . Seeding and HC are nice , but playing well during the playoffs is much more important.

The variance works in one's favor as an underdog. But when you are the better team, higher variance can work against you.
