For the sake of argument let's say WB >>> Harden. Fine. But what about 2nd star comparison? Durant vs Dwight? r u kidding me? Durant >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>galaxy apart>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dwight.

Now compare the role player depth and the quality of coaching. The gap is even bigger there. If anything, OKC just proved that we don't have enough talent on this team and having two legit superstars is the greatest winning strategy, even if they are both ISO heavy players. Houston has way too many mediocre role players and tries to build around Harden ALONE. We don't even have legit second scoring option, what do people expect, Harden putting up 40~50 points every night?

Yeah, Dwight was supposed to be that 'second star'. We all know how that turned out.

Morey should learn from OKC and stop with this Harden one-man-show. It doesn't work and obviously Harden can't do it alone.

In other words, Morey should learn how to be a good GM.

    Riveting tale, chap.

I would love to hear what the correct move for Morey would have been.

It's not like a bunch of Kevin Durants are walking around out there.

Maybe this is more on LES, but how about actually drafting potential future superstars? this team is forever mired in mediocrity because it never tries to build from the bottom up

It's easier when you have the 2nd, 4th, and 3rd pick in succession as opposed to three straight 14th picks

yeah that's why I said maybe this is more on LES, but clearly we are losing out on the talent war by not participating in high draft picks every single year.

Who's fault is that though? And it's not like this organization is willing to do a rebuild. Hell, with their track record, they would probably draft busts.

On one hand it's commendable that Les refused to put a crap product during the 9th seed era. On the other, we all know that tanking is the way you get high draft picks and have higher chances of drafting a superstar.

Kudos for okc for picking good players. Though if they won the lottery in 2007 they most likely would have picked Oden.

The problem with relying on getting high draft picks is that generally you need a top 2 pick to get your "star" player.

Since 2012, only one true star player has been drafted outside of the top 2... Damian Lillard.

It can be a tough decision to put all of your eggs into the "draft" basket. Even when you really do try, you still might have to rely on another team taking someone like Greg Oden so that you can get your Durant.

    umm....supporting cast?

You do realize that is the difference right?

OKC's bigs are demolishing golden state...RayMOND looks like Terrence ones out there.

Hope Morey learned that overpaying young players >>>>> overpaying old players. Reason being is that the young one can still grow i.e. Enes Kanter. To me, Corey Brewer is old and can't get better.

Morey's only weakness is drafting. Well, that and working for Les.

They're not, but he needs to get better at drafting talent for the long run. No more bad selections like Nock Johnson over Jordan Clarkson, and many more of course.

Sam Presti is a God. You're wasting your time if you think Morey could make a team like that.

Obvious downside to refusing to rebuild. We will always be at the mercy of FA. :/
