Teen Sues Parents for Cash, College Tuition. Does She Have a Case?

    Bwaaaaaaa-hahahahahahahaha... kids...

I cannot believe <s>white kids</s> youngsters nowadays feel they are "owed" something like this... haha... oh, man, some judge might even consider hearing this case... that would be the ultimate... what if she WINS?!?!?

    No chance she wins.

It makes no sense. She is a legal adult, her parents don't owe her anything.

If she was 17 MAYBE she'd have a case, but at 18, she is just wasting her time.

She's wasting more money by hiring an attorney to sue. Sounds like a spoiled brat and her parents finally had enough.

No money wasted according to the article. The friend's dad is a lawyer, and is taking it pro bono in hopes of the parents losing and them paying all the fees.

I should of known it would've been over her "stupid" boyfriend ... someone answer me question ... if she wanted to risk getting kicked of her parents place for a boy in question...how come the boy in question doesn't have to pay for it ... moreover if she's an honor student can she get most of her tuition paid for at a state school. It looks our little princess made the wrong choice.

Why would the court even agree to take this on?! If she wins what stops her from suing random strangers to pay for her expenses!?

She's 18 in the eyes of the law it should be that all responsibility has ended.

This case should go up to the Supreme Court.

She'd sue you for alimony and child support, regardless of outcome.

I wonder if she'd have a case if her parents had previously expressed that they'd pay for her tuition, without specifically stipulating that living under their roof was a condition?

Stopping tuition payments for her high school seems a bit spiteful on ther parents' part, IMO.

has been living with the family of her best friend and classmate, Jaime Inglesino, whose father, attorney John Inglesino, is bankrolling Rachel’s lawsuit. He’s also requesting in the lawsuit that the Cannings reimburse him for the legal fees, so far totaling $12,597, according to the paper.

    here's the problem

Playing devils advocate here but, suppose its like a wife. If you get divorced you have to pay for your wife to live up to the standards she is accustomed... so why not with kids, who really are accustomed to a certain type of life?
