He could still lose the job to Keenum in camp, but that's highly unlikely.

As soon as we get mathematically eliminated it will be Savage.
    Then we draft Mariotta.

Coach BOB knows he has 3 years.

I could see him not being the starter after preseason no idea who could be the starter. Coach names a starting qb without even playing 2 preseason games under our belt not a good sign  coach really like this guy just like Kubiak loved scrub

Naming a "starter" could be the coaches attempt to motivate someone to step up and unseat them, we'll see.

The guys that decided to give Fitz the money aren't going to say they were wrong in June.

am I the only one who thinks Fitzpatrick could be solid for the club under BOB's tutelage? That he could actually be a good solution for the entire season? I'm not guaranteeing it, but I'm very open to the possibility and hoping for it (of course).

I think Fitzpatrick is capable of putting ONE decent season together. He's strung together great games in the past. I'm fine with it for a single season

If he puts together a decent season in 2014, he's probably the QB going into 2015 too. If you want an actual franchise QB, you probably want to hope he fails. Otherwise, you risk getting stuck in the Andy Dalton territory: too good to ditch, but probably a liability if trying to win it all.

I seriously doubt that any success Fitzpatrick has this season would prevent the Texans from using their first rounder on a QB next year if there's a good one available when we pick.

Fitzpatrick is not Andy Dalton. Dalton was a 2nd round pick the Bengals hoped would be a franchise guy. And to this point, he's not been the great QB teams are looking for, but good enough to get them to the playoffs for 3 consecutive years, something the Bengals had never done previously. But that also came with 3 first round losses. And that's the dilemma for the Bengals. Dalton's had success, but hasn't been able to get the team over the hump and the question is whether he'll ever be capable of doing that. Cincinnati is still hoping he can do it and be the guy.

Fitzpatrick on the other hand was a 7th rounder. He's been in the the league for 9 seasons and is now on his 5th team. He's 31, never had a winning record as a QB, and has never gone to the playoffs. Nobody is under any illusion that Fitzpatrick can be a franchise QB. I don't care how well he plays, nobody is going to be saying "Houston's QB problems are solved, all hail Fitzpatrick as the next great Houston QB".

Eh - midway through this season, people were saying undrafted Case Keenum deserved to be the starter next year. That said, I agree with that no one is going to say the above. But if Fitz has a decent season, there's a good chance we're outside of the range of drafting a clear franchise QB. The players available in the middle of the 1st round are likely to be the same as what you had this year. So there's a decent chance people say "Fitz is good enough - look at Joe Flacco! Let's go use our first round pick on (whatever new hole we have after the season)". This is the mess teams consistently get into with decent but not good enough QBs.

Well you say "the mess" but sometimes when they do that, they win the SB, much like your Flacco example. The real "mess" that teams can get into is when they waste first round picks over and over again trying to land "franchise QB's" instead of making their team better.
