Bob Allen on ch13 said they want the ball Lane caught to end the game back so they can put it in their museum. He said there has been no word from Lane if he would give it back. Should he give it back? It was the last out recorded in Busch Stadium. It was the out that sent the Astros to their first World Series. ... I say no.
Sure they can have it back, but first all of the Astros have to sign it and have 2005 NL Champions written on it.
BULL....would they have wanted the last pitch Lidge through in Game 2 if the Astros would have closed it out at home????? The Astros should put it in THEIR museum!!!!
Lane also had the last HR there as well ........ I wonder If he kept that ball or the fan held on to it ?
If the two teams are contesting over who should have it, I say put it in the hall of fame. Besides, we need to save room for the World Series ball.
We'll set up a virtual camera in our museum so they can look at it 24-7 as it sits next to our NL Championship trophy.
who legally owns the ball? does mlb buy all the balls.. or does each team buy the balls used for their home games or what?
No. And why would they want that ball back. Here kids, see where the Astros beat your beloved Cardinals in game 6 of the 2005 NLCS. Unless the cardinals desire to go the aggy fish camp route towards the Astros, they shouldn't want the ball back. That ball belongs in either the MLB HOF or on display at MMP, period.
I say we make a deal with them. They get the ball back, with every member of the Astros having signed it, and with 2005 NL Champions painted on it. And in return, the Cardinals have to publicly apologize for the division "Co-champions" banner they so foolishly put up in their park, and then they must burn it immediately following the national anthem on opening day of 2006.
