Hardwood Paroxysm published a story on TJ a couple of days ago, and it's an awkward look at his terrible season (which just happens to coincide with the team's equally terrible season).

    An excerpt:

    And my favorite:

From the day when Hakeem left, all of our bigs seem to either (1) be plagued by injuries or (2) plain suck or (3) both, or (4) get traded/let walked.

Jones and Motiejunas are the latest of this trend.

He's been "hurt" since 2011 when he got in a car accident in college. It's the excuse for his entire career.

There is nothing sad about it. T-Jones' NBA potential was always limited by his big problem between the ears and the smallness of the muscle beating in his chest. Many people here worked themselves into a lather talking about how "talented" he was, but he really isn't. Soft and shaky players usually fail.

I expected it would end like this when he was drafted and called him a Morey blunder from the very beginning.

The rockets are lowering his value by not playing him. And will probably re-sign him next year for cheep

Michael Beasley's stretch of 9-consecutive games in double figures is longest for Rockets reserve since Carl Landry's 13-gm run in 09-10.

Bobby Marks listing Terrence Jones ahead of Motiejunas.:p

[rquoter]The Vertical guide to free agency: power forwards

    6. Terrence Jones, Houston Rockets
    FA age: 24 | Salary: $2.5 million
Insider info: Has missed significant time because of injuries in three of the past fours seasons. When healthy he is very effective. Shooting close to 40 percent from 3-point range this season. Houston has the right to match any offers.

    8. Donatas Motiejunas, Houston Rockets
    FA age: 25 | Salary: $2.3 million
Insider info: Back surgery in the off-season has limited his production. Sample of recent games has Motiejunas starting to resemble his pre-injury form. Can play the four and five and has the ability to stretch the floor. Restricted with the Rockets’ ability to match.[/rquoter]

He thought he could get more than 10M a year. At this rate, he is lucky if he gets an NBA contract.

I will never understand the Rockets' plan of acquiring Howard/Harden, and then completely ignoring the 4 spot during their entire tenure together.
