Anyone else come away from Saturday's game more than a little impressed with Nowitzki?

A seven footer who runs the floor and shoots the three... amazing. If he ever develops a low post game and some defense (he did have five blocks against the Rox, I believe) look out. For once, it looks like The Mad Scientist knew what he was doing.

The guy is a ridiculous weapon. He can shoot the ball from ANYWHERE, and, with his size, he can shoot it over almost ANYBODY. Good thing that looks are not the barometer of how good a player is. [IMG]

Seriously, though, how old is this guy? I know he was just a rookie what, like 2 years ago, but he is a TREMENDOUS basketball player, and will continue the upward growth that Dallas is maintaining thusfar.

yeah, 21 years old and has improved each year in the league. Although with Howard on board, I think he will play alot of center. He definitely lacks the physical play and defensive skills to play the 5 but he'll certainly create matchup problems.

So who do you think is uglier, Detlef Schrempf or Dirk Nowitzki? Would you say they have a similar style of play?

The thing that is always funny to me about Dirk is remembering the collective anger in Dallas at Nellie for drafting Dirk. Immediately, it was seen as a huge mistake, and the Fire Nellie sentiment got louder and louder. Nelson quite nearly lost his job over that pick.

Now Nellie is seen as a genius for being astute enough to pick Dirk.

They're both german and they both have similar styles, although Detlef was a better shooter than Dirk is now.
Man Dirk is going to be the BEST all-around player in the league. Guy can do it all. If he improves his defense and passing, there is no limit fo this guy.

This thread is over two years old.

Just link to it if need be; don't bump it.

What's wrong with bumping it? Seems like that would be better than creating a new one.

I saw alot of Dirk to Detlef comparisons that some made two years ago. I think it's safe to say now that Dirk is better then Detlef ever was and he's only getting better. Out of the two questions that were placed on him here two years ago he has answered one. He has developed a decent post game to go along with his lights out shooting and ability to run the floor. He has also improved his rebounding and now grabs 10 on a nightly basis.

But his D is still horribal. If that improves within the next two years he wil be the best player in the leauge. The only guy I know who shoots the ball every time it touches his hands.

The better idea would be to link to it where you need it, like I suggested, instead of posting in a two year old thread & thus encouraging new posts. It's confusing, as shown in posts since the bump.

I'm surprised it hasn't been locked yet.
