I see lots of people saying the Rockets just don't play with heart. They certainly didn't the past few weeks going back to the game against the Pelicans. But earlier this season and pretty much last season, Rockets did bring it and even if they consistently started off slow or fell behind anytime in the game they almost ALWAYS came back and clawed their way back into the game. But these last two games in particular, disgusting lack of passion and effort. What's happened to this team? Where did that heart that they were playing with before the new year go?
I don't where it went but I do know that some heart left the organization when Scola was let go. I am hoping Scola comes back home next season. He is on the mural at the Toyota Center. It will be great to have him back as a backup PF.
Heart isn't a basketball term, it's rhetoric. It's an imaginary idea made up to spice up basketball commentary. It's not real.
I'd rather they play with their heads. The playing with heart I want to see is every one of their hearts pumping a mile a minute while running the court in transition, crashing the boards, and playing smothering defense.
I think it really comes from Dwight..At least Tarik Black was always fully engaged and focused at all times during the game.
Where is tinman when you need him? <iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/5-1jgNhopNo" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="420"></iframe>
You're absolutely right, we can't go on just running away. If we stay any longer we will surely never get away. Anything you want we can make it happen. Stand up and turn around, never let them shoot us down.
I think Rudy made the right choice of words there. "Never underestimate Vernon Maxwell actually starting to hit shots, and an epic choke job by John Starks" is not quite as catchy.
For a certain player the issue is getting overblown because he isn't healthy this season and some posters have an agenda to push their guy DMo.
I'm pretty sure this was said after the second championship. So Starks and maxwell didn't have anything to do with it. Learn your rockets history.
