    Good or bad?

I've heard it dilutes the digestive enzymes which disrupts the digestive process. I say, so what? Won't my body regenerate the same enzymes in my stomach and digest things eventually, which would effectively make my meal slower digesting than it should be? Seems to me this is a great way to supress hunger without actually damaging anything.

I've also heard we need water with food because it transports key nutrients to your body.

Some people even say to wait 1-4 hours after eating to drink water. This sounds ridiculous to me because of other basics:

    a) 5 meals a day.
    b) No food at least two hours before you sleep.

That's 5 meals in roughly 14 hours. If I wait 2 hours after every meal, I have to drink water on a ridiculously tight schedule. Can't be natural, something is wrong.

I stopped drinking water with food a while back but now I'm also reading that you SHOULD drink water with food. No particularly good sources though.

    Thoughts?

Haven't heard of it. People actually wait hours before they drink?? Now if it's cold water, then we may have a case.

Here's what I gathered from the site I go to when I have questions about food:

This is all news to me. I've always consumed a lot of water. I will have to look into this further. Thanks to OP for bringing this up.

I rarely drink anything with my meals.

It ruins the taste of it for me and also makes my feel artificially full.

    Just all around less enjoyable.

About 80% of the water I drink during the day happens after my last meal of the day, which coincidentally happens to be my smallest.

Anything cold (drinking water, taking a bath) will dilute the process.
Warm water on the other hand will have the opposite effect.

    Your source has a disclaimer:
I'm a chemist. Sounds like bull. The stomach has buffer solutions to control the pH.

I'm getting away from drinking water with meals. If i do, I'm trying to make it hot tea. Feel bloated for longer and that link makes sense with what water will do to the acid. I just listen to my body. It says hot liquid (small amount) or none at all with the meals.

I usually don't drink water with a meal because I feel like it just washes away the taste of whatever I'm eating.

The one exception to this (oddly enough) is Chinese food. For some reason, I love drinking ice cold water with Chinese food.

supposedly, it takes your body longer to digest soup than it does solid food. if it's true, i guess liquid with meals is the same.

Good point. I should have mentioned that it my post.

Not that I'm doubting you, because I honestly wouldn't know, but can you link to any relevant research on this and its relationship to water/food consumption?
