I dont think anyone is naive enough to think the B12 will last longer than their contract. UH has to be banking on the 8yrs or so of exposure it would get to become even more attractive for the next set of realignment.

 

The exposure will definitely help. Currently, the main thing that makes UH unattractive to conferences is Academics and Fanbase. UH is investing in their academics and has trended upwards in the last five years in academic rankings. Being in a P5 conference, even if for 8 years, would do wonders for the fanbase in Houston. By the next round of alignment, we might be a much more attractive candidate for a P5 conference, as we'd be competitive academically and in terms of money.

I don't think conferences care about academics unless the school is just awful. I think selling out their stadium next season would remedy those other issues as well. The problem right now is the lack of desire to expand from the conferences. The ACC deal has changed that. The big 12 (and maybe the Pac 12) might look to moving to the 14 team model. The pac 12 network is in a tough place now though so who knows what they want to do.

Call me naive then. I think it will be fine when all the dust settles.

 

Did UH get a apparent throwback style uniform, or just the generic base style? Looks a whole lot like this and the pants stripes are the same.
