Harden isn't a max player. But in the open market, some teams will give him that, and OKC will match regardless. Good business move.

One would think they'll find a way to keep him and then deal him or Westbrick or Ibaka during the summer. No way they can keep Durant (max) Westbrick (near max) Ibaka ($11 million per) and Harden (max or near-max).

You can bet Morey is making his due diligence calls. Round out the roster and get a star, if not quite an All Star, and maybe not quite worth the money he wants. Morey'd have to agree to take on Perkins and give up Martin's expiring and one of our bigs etc etc and a pick.

    Worth it? I don't know.

I still say OKC'll find a way to keep him and worry about trades next summer. Maybe amnesty Perkins.

It's not about what you're worth, it's about how much someone's willing to pay you.

Presti won't offer the max until next summer. It's on Harden to decide how much the extra $4 to $5 million means to him vs. the security of getting it done now. Maybe incentive clauses close the sale.

They should save all that money and get a solid rebounder. Last year their primary rebounder was Durant can you believe that.

I hope Morey goes in for Harden. Lin + Asik + Harden + Patterson + Parsons is a good starting 5. That lineup is one all-star away from competing for a title.

Yeah, the $2 mil/yr is injury/performance insurance for the upcoming season.

Since we know Morey'll make that call, maybe

DMo + JLamb + KMartin (can be re-signed at more reasonable price) + Toronto pick

    for

The Beard, The Other Beard (Perkins), Daquan Cook

This done before Oct 31 with the promise of a max extension.

Again, I don't know if it's the right thing to do, but you can be sure Morey's interested.

    Something like that?

it should be ~10 mil extra, assuming the max goes up by a similar amount as it did this summer.
    something around 4 years / 62 mil.

Hate to sound like Bayless, but they should look at trading Westbrook and starting Harden. Put a spot up shooter at the point.

How can OKC afford all of this?

    Durant - Max
    Westbrook - Max
Ibaka - 48 mil / 4 yrs (Not max but BIG money)
    Harden - 52+ million?

    That's a lot of money

ikr.. if they are the lakers/knicks/net/bulls/clippers, then they might be able to pull it off, but in a small market? get ready to open up ur safe

Hopefully Presti isn't as stupid. If anything, they should look to trade Harden and get another serviceable big man + good to great spot up shooter off the bench.

WB is a bonafide superstar. He's arguably THE best athlete in the NBA, and only 23, and has improved every year he's been in the NBA.

Harden isn't worth the max, but then again, I'm not a GM.
