I agree with this .... He just doesn't make quick decisions or do anything off the ball. I think he'd be a much more productive player in a more scripted system where he has a clearly defined job to perform on any given offensive set. He doesn't fit this offense ... and I don't think he would do well in the Princeton either , just too much for him to think about / too may quick decisions have to be made. When he can make a quick decision / move .... he can do some special things. I really get tired of watching him dribble in the half court on the perimeter , stopping the ball , like he just doesn't know what the hell to do with it. This is what we get in todays NBA where kids are drafted with such limited experience in college. They just don't have the understanding of the game guys do when they spend four years learning the game .... They are athletes , not basketball players.
Would Jones' be more valuable as a 6th man than in the starting lineup? Or is that just masking the fact that he is not good enough to be a starting PF in championship caliber team.
You've obviously missed the part where 90-99% of what he says is pure crap. Given those numbers, I think ATM is his correct acronym for 'A Tremendous Finisher' Makes sense now?
I like TJones but he needs to work on his jumper. His release is almost as slow as Rubio's. Luckily for him, he can finish at the rim.
TJ's issue, so far, isn't that he can't play well. It's that he can't play well consistently. Hopefully he averages 16/10 this season.
I don't think it's so much consistency as it is he can't shoot. The Lakers are terrible defensively, but a more disciplined defense will not let him get into the paint like he did here. His jumper is still terrible.
His numbers are going to be up and down because he's the 4th or 5th option on offense, and he's not real big for a power forward. When he goes up against large athletic forwards he will struggle. Hey, I'm a big fan of TJones, and he is the best option at power forward at this time. What I like most about Jones is that he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. He doesn't turn the ball over very much, and he doesn't force a lot of bad shots. He's not a good three point shooter, but the shots he takes are shots that need to be taken within the Rockets offense.
