Mayo really looked like he could fill the role of a second go to guy tonight. His game compliments that of a true Allstar big. I hate to say it, but with dirk coming back, they look plain scary.

OJ Mayo scored easily in the Mavs system. Rick Carlisle had his players set double screens for OJ to run off from, different set of plays run through him which makes his life a lot easier. OJ Mayo role is to score and shoot, which is something that he does pretty well...

James Harden is an overall better player than OJ. Though OJ is a better pure shooter than Harden is, Harden can get to the basket, draw fouls, and create well for his teammates. Basically Harden is star player that is more suited to be a franchise player than Mayo because he's just a much better well rounded player than OJ.

The difference is between the two is, OJ doesn't have defenses swarming all over him and teams setting up just to stop him. Plus, having a really good coach who knows how to best utilize his skills helps him big time. That's why he have a much easier time scoring and have a lot more open shots and clear lanes to the rim.

Harden on the other hand, has to get most of his points through ISO offense. There are a few plays where the Rockets get Harden the ball on the block but teams would just double him and force him to get rid of the ball. Its really sad that the Rockets got a player as talented and good as James Harden but they don't know how to utilize him correctly. Because he's such a great player, everyone else on the team becomes so dependent on James Harden, forcing him to do everything...

Hopefully Morey is working hard on the phones and trying to find ways for the Rockets to get some help for Harden. Apparently, teams don't respect guys like Patrick Patterson, ignoring him and leaving him open so they can double Harden. Now I really see why a lot of teams doesn't respect Patrick Patterson because even when he's that wide open, he doesn't take advantage of it and take it to the rim strong but instead, continues to take mid range jump shots. Every good teams will continue to double Harden and forcing him to get rid of the ball because they know guys like Patrick Patterson will most likely take a mid range jumper and he's isn't that much of a threat...

When Harden was lighting up the Mavs and no one could stop him, Rick Carlisle had Harden double team. When Mayo was heating up, McHale just had Toney guard him one on one...
