Bulls 72-10 season: don't think any team will ever care enough about a regular season record and risk injury to break it. Wilt's 100 point game. What others?
KOBE'S 81 PT GAME made me think the 100 pt game is possible and I suspect the NBA reduce the number of games in a Season soon Rocket River
actually dont think any team will be good enough to break that record. not about if they care enough really imo.
I do know one record that has a good chance of being broken which is SAD. The Quadruple Double record. Dream has 2 but I think Antohony Davis the beast gets more than 2. The guy is insane on so many levels.
If the regular season is shortened, which seems to have some momentum, pretty much all full-season totals records will be set in stone. The 60s rebounding records are impossible due to the slower pace and higher offensive efficiency of the modern game. Wilt notched 55 once. One guy has reached 35 in the last 30 years. Naturally Wilt's 48.5 minute per game season is also unassailable. Mark Eaton's per-game and total blocks in '86 will not be repeated in a league where 3 blocks a game is extraordinary.
Yea I re-watched that game before and he did it smoothly it didn't feel like he was trying to break a record or something, especially in the first half. If he had a goal from the beginning he could have gone even further.
He still had to take 46 shots (plus 20 free throws) to get there! 100 points is impossible. But I think 81 is doable. The player is probably going to have to break the 3 pointers in a game record and get to the line 20 times. Only players capable of that is: KD, Harden, maybe Curry if he gets hot from three and gets calls, maybe LeBron if he really wanted to and Westbrook if he takes all the shots. I think 33 wins in a row is impossible. Too much parody in the league with games so close. Teams will get 20+ but 30 is really going to be hard.
Wilt Chamberlain's single season minutes per game. 48.5 minutes per game. Wilt Chamberlain's career minutes per game. 45.8 minutes for a career.
I also forgot the single season scoring average of 50.36. The closest single season average not from Wilt is MJ at 37 points per game.
I think that can be done. It will be quite a feat but the hardest thing about that is the number of games. DeAndre Jordan or a prime Dwight Howard could do that if that's all the focused on. Dennis Rodman averaged 15 rebounds a game for 7 seasons.
I agree. Hakeem's block record will be hard to beat, or sadly, Stockton's assist record. I used to think Kareem's scoring record would never be broken but LeBron and Durant both have great shots barring any major injuries
Russell's 11 rings. Modern Day records...this one will NEVER be broken Fewest free throws made, game 0-Toronto vs. Charlotte, January 9, 1996
The number of women Wilt Chamberlain slept with. Although I think Dwight might be trying to catch him based on the number of baby mamas he has.
Most consecutive field goals, no misses, season 35-Wilt Chamberlain, Philadelphia, February 17-February 28, 1967 35 field goals without a miss. Crazy stuff.
The 84-85 lakers team ( the one we beat to go to the finals the following year) had a 54.5 fg% as a team for an entire season.
