Just said on sportscenter by Ric Bucher, he said the Rockets were going to use that money to get Piatkowski

Elaborate please. Do you mean he said that we will not match the 4 yr. 24 mill. offer sheet and this pay less (or the same) to Piat?

That's fine by me if it means paying less than the $6 mill a yr Posey wants. Plus we get a shooter. Piat however plays no defense & our SF/SG position now consists of:

    Rice/Piat/Nach/Mobley/Hawkins

I am guessing we will see a ton of 3 guard lineups with Piat, Mobes and Francis?

    Anyone can confirm this?

It's utter stupidity if you ask me.

A one-dimensional shooter isn't nearly as valuable as guy that brings so much to the table like Posey does.

i wish we could have both. Posey's defense and Piakowski's shooting. But we can't so i think Piakowski is a perfect complement to Yao Ming.

He also mentioned that the Rockets had yet to receive the offer sheet but his sources said that they would not match.

My brother just also saw thbis and called me - he said no other details were given. I'd imagine we'd be signing Piat for less.

Would Piat start at SF or would Rice start w/ Piat off the bench?

Depends on what u have to pay.
If Posey costs $5 mil and Pike costs $3 mil or there about, I'll take Pike.
You have to remember it is more than just the money u spend on 1 or the other. It's the money you won't have to spend on other guys too!

If this is true and all we do this off season is lose Posey and gain Pike then I will be very dissapointed in Les.

There is not a good excuse for not matching 3 million a year unless you have a better plan for the small forward spot and Pike is not a small forward.

I will hold off my judgment until training camp...maybe...but the Rockets had better make a deal for a decent small forward.

i dont get how the "big splash" is going to happen if we are not going to match the mediocre offer posey has gotten from memphis

A memphis paper reported Posey signing at 3 to 3.2 mil a year. It is posted in several other threads.

Pike and Hawk will probably back up the 2/3 spot together with Hawk getting the tougher assignment.

Seems like our SF's are all what would fit in Rudy T's system: Piat/Rice/Nach, I don't know about JVG's. JVG had Spree there, someone akin to Spree. JVG traded Rice.

I don't know. Does Piat merit a starting role? Hell does Rice anymore?

Posey is a solid player but not anything special. The Rockets would have not had to pay 3.5 million a year for him but 7 million since it would push them over the cap. Piatkowski is not a bad conselation prize.

    Glen Rice
    Boki
    E. Piatkowski

All seem to be the same: Shooting but no Defense

Maybe the zone aint so bad.
