Has anyone else noticed this site yet? It's kinda like woot except it is discounts at restaurants, hotels, massages, etc. One deal a day.

I've seen some decent deals on there so far.

"waaa waaa waaa, why do you think you're awesome, you're old, Fatty. Waa Waaa waaa!"

The site addy, and the fact that FFB posted it, made me think it was a Swinger site.

After some investigation, there's definitely some kinky stuff. Massage, massage, pole dancing.

There's been several restaurants that have been on here, as well, offering $50 worth of food and drink for $25.

The difference between this and restaurant.com is there are no exclusions, special times you need to go, etc. Basically they're good for 6 months.

They contacted my wife to see if she'd be willing to put up a discount for Urban Chef. She's on maternity leave now, so it's tabled. But, as a vendor, I'm just not feeling it. I'd rather customers pay the full price.

There have been sites like this in the past that have flopped. One I recall is Mercata. I think one of the reasons why it flopped was they couldn't get enough people to jump on a deal to bring the price down enough to where people would frequent the site rather than going elsewhere on the Internet and just buying it cheaper or almost as cheap without waiting through the bidding process. This seems to just be for restaurants, though.

I think you and DoD might be right, in the long run. People tend to find out about the sites. But in the short run, especially if you as a restaurant owner don't advertise to your regulars, it can work.

The point is to get people through the doors that otherwise wouldn't.

I'll keep my eye out and see. They had some decent restaurants on here recently. I know Ruggles Green had an offer on here. That's how I found out about this site. The owner had it on his Facebook account.

Hope it sticks around. Looks like a solid place to get gifts for the females that come and go, and also the ones that stay (mom).

As a vendor, I'm inclined to give it a shot. But I'd go broke of I had to give a hundred classes at 50%.

It really depends on how quickly you'd like to build up. If you'd like to see new customers try it to hope they do repeat business, it's worth it. Even at a loss initially.

But if you're happy with your businesses current growth, obviously there is no need for a discount.

The thing I like is it looks to be negotiated, and is withdrawn if not enough people sign up.

As a consumer, I love these things.
