For Bledsoe, it doesn't seem it's about the money as much as it's about what the money represents. He wants a "You're important enough to be a key piece of our franchise" Houston is offering "We think you're awesome, but Durant and umm other assets" Phoenix is offering "Well, you're kinda good, but we aren't willing to bet how good" It's difficult to make that trade, because you'd need to give up both valuable assets and take a punt on Bledsoe long term, a team might be willing to do 1 or the other, but both? that's a lot. But in regards to Phoenix, there's the element of, I'd just be signing a trade bait contract, perhaps that element is weighing so heavily he'd accept the QO rather than signing that 4x12, but it certainly seems like it could be the real issue, especially considering trade bait more often than not ends up with "I'll end up in Minnesota" or the like. From Phoenix's perspective, a max deal makes him pretty much untradeable, at least in the immediate, and would pretty much force them into a logistical nightmare that would probably require a trade of Dragic.
444 pages later and it still bothers me a bit about the cyberex spelling... Weird... Def epic thread regardless of outcome thus far
<iframe width="640" height="390" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/UqRVNRVHfns" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Well not really related by kind of funny. INB4 rubio is not a max player, james haren etc etc
if i start a thread saying the rockets will be making a trade for taj gibson within the next 10 days....most likely it will be locked. i dont see this any different?
Wish he really could shoot like that. The beginning where he was just bricking seemed more realistic.
Please no more Ricky Rubio talk then basketballholic will write essays how he will have a great career etc etc .
ding...ding...ding...ding...ding! You've nailed it! For Bledsoe, it's not about getting the max, it's about having control over where he plays. By demanding 5 years at max or the QO he's forcing the Suns to trade him, something the Suns were likely planning on doing any way. But forcing the Suns hand now means Bledsoe gets trade veto power. Bledsoe would have no problem playing in Phoenix, and probably at 4/48, but it doesn't take a Rocket scientist to figure out that Phoenix is not going to pay three PGs 31 to 35 million a year from now, and forward. One of them is getting moved with Dragic being the least likely to be shipped out. Still! The Suns offering 12 million per to a slash and crash 4th year guard who's already had two knee surgeries, and missed 40 games last year? That! Is not jerking him around. That is a very good (even risky) offer even if the Suns will be looking to move him eventually. Over 15 million for 5 years would be just dumb, especially for a team that already has two other quality PGs and a rookie to boot.
Dragic is the oldest, with the most freedom, and will demand the most money, you don't hire a Danny Ainge assistant to care about things like fan favorites, you hire them to care about things like player age, and contract, and future window. Maybe I'm just more desensitized to it, having been through that going on 7 years now, but where you see "we love dragic", he sees "28 yo, ufa, 19m max, huge markets with money", you'll get used to it eventually, even without bledsoe, if ny/la or anyone really pony up a 4/82 offer, are phoenix willing to go to 5/110 and even if so, there's no guarantee they get that choice.
Why don't you make a post in this thread stating exactly just that. Say it emphatically and say it like you truly got sources. And see if the Mods do something about it.
You know what the newbies here just learned about Rubio.... (assuming they have been living under a rock the past 3 years & have missed NBA & international Bball) A. He can't shoot B. He can get steals with his length C. Team Spain is better with S. Rodriguez pushing the tempo or the spacing of Calderon at PG Enough with the F-ing Ricky Rubio talk. There have been ZERO reports of Rubio to Houston being anything worthy of being in the GARM. The only purpose of this thread lately is for people like Jopatmc to mislead the new posters in the GARM who don't know any better that they know something we all don't. Please mods, if you have the time, request a Rubio-fan thread be created in the Dish for Rubio talk. Ricky Rubio doesn't play nor is he affiliated to the Houston Rockets in trade talks. Move that Ish por favor (look at me. I know Spanish, I must be a Spanish BBall expert).
The Rockets signed Delfino in 2012 after he performed well for Team Argentina at the Olympics. I wonder if there is someone Morey is looking at during the FIBA World Cup. Maybe Filipino star Andray Blatche to help salvage the Asian market?
ENOUGH! This thread is about Rubio and the legitimate rumors involving him to the Rockets. Take your Ish Smith Propaganda elsewhere.
