Matthews is the kind of two way player the Rockets need on the bench who can also play next to Harden in the guard positions.

Nobody is going to Boston, but they should go to Boston. Could be a very good team once they get that first star player.

Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge underwent successful surgery today to repair the injured radial collateral ligament of his left thumb. Dr. Thomas J. Graham performed the procedure at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Aldridge is expected to be able to return basketball activity in approximately eight weeks

The free-agent plan for the Spurs is to quickly agree on a five-year max deal with Leonard – “It will be a short conversation,” one person with knowledge of the dynamics said – and empower Leonard to join Duncan in an all-out recruitment of All-Star free agent LaMarcus Aldridge, league sources told CBSSports.com.

The Spurs will feel out Memphis center Marc Gasol, too, but the prevailing belief now is that Aldridge is more likely to change teams. The Trail Blazers' hope is that the Texas native will be enticed by the five-year, $107 million deal they can offer as opposed to the four-year, $82 million that other suitors will have on the table. But that home-team advantage has been greatly diminished by the looming spike in the salary cap in 2016. Aldridge, 29, will strongly consider doing a two-year deal with a player option for '16-'17 that would get him back to the market in a position to make tens of millions more at the new max.

Even in the Spurs' dream scenario – Duncan and Leonard come back and successfully recruit Aldridge – they will have a hard time retaining free agent Danny Green, who is expected to command $10-$12 million on the open market – which, in 2016, will look like a bargain.

Danny Green would be a good pick up for us. But not for that much.

Aldridge would be amazing in San Antonio. Imagine the Spurs being able to bring Duncan off the bench....downright scary.

On a side note, Danny Green at $11m/year seems Parsons-esque at first, but when you consider the hike in the salary cap in 2016, it might not be so bad after all. The Rockets could certainly use him.

It would be scary for a year but long term I'm not worried about the Spurs if their cornerstone mad guys are Leonard and Aldridge.

If Pop is still the coach, they most certainly are fearsome.

Hang on. How can the Spurs afford Kawhi's max deal AND $20.5 mil/yr for LMA? How much of a paycut would Duncan have to take for that to happen? Also, is $82 mil/4 yrs the max anyone other than the Blazers can offer? I recall Dwight signed an $88 mil deal with the Rockets. What if Dallas swoops in with an extra 6 mil should DeAndre stay with the Clippers?

Aldridge plays the same position as Duncan, how does this work out?

Both of them are interchangeable at PF and C. Seeing both of them on the floor at the same time would be amazing.

Would it really be that amazing? OH NOES HOW DO YOU DEFEND DOUBLE BASELINE MID RANGE JUMPERS

I'd be a lot more scared to see Aldridge with a DeAndre Jordan type (actually not unlike what the Clippers do now with Grifin)

Also, Duncan is too old. If I am Aldridge, I will ask for a trade to come to Houston, then he will have a better chance to get a ring.

Both can play center, but neither of them wants to play, I am guessing.
