Solid pick up for them. Basically replacing depth with losing David Lee.

Wow, I always thought Thompson just needed the right environment.

Not as great of a deal as many think, Thompson has 2 years left and Wallace only got 1.

GSW picked up more salary and also will need to send cash and pick to 76ers.

Yes Thompson is a better player but he is not a better player that David Lee, all these moves are made to save tax money.

Is he better than a healthy Mareese Speights? Or Festus Ezeli.

Seems like a injury protection move... which makes sense....

Good move, nothing to be overly concerned about.

It's a tax saving move, the GSW saved over 11 mils ( minus the cash they are going to send to Philly) this year.

76ers has a garbage team and Thompson is still young, if he really has any potential more than an average backup, the 76ers will not let go of him for nothing.

He's different than Speights, potentially more skilled than Ezeli. Thompson is pretty much a double-double per 36, plus a block. It gives them more depth, so it's definitely concerning, in the long run. We need them to get weaker, not stronger.

Speights and Fezeli are also both a double double per 36... just better double doubles. Of course, that may be because they play less minutes. Perhaps in less minutes Thompson is more effective... not sure.

It's also very hard to figure out Thompson as a defender, but I suspect Speights and Fezeli are meaningfully better in that department.

All the said, I believe the Warriors beat the Rockets without Speights anyway. They beat the Cavs effectively without Bogut. Their strength is Curry, Thompson, Iggy/Barnes and Green. Their bench is nice, and deep beyond that, but somewhat interchangeable.

    Make Curry defend for once.
Don't be one of the healthiest teams ever
Try to exploit Green down low and make him beat you from the outside offensively.

Not saying any of the above is easy, just those are the concerns with the Warriors.... imo

Also a long-term insurance move since both of those guys are free agents next summer if I'm not mistaken. The Warriors may have trouble hanging onto both and resign Barnes.
