Ok, so I adjusted rules based on what we talked. We can still change something (until we start drafting).

    - The pool of draftable players is anyone that has played in at least one NBA game from the 1980 season to now.
    - Pick 8 players.
    - There is a limit of how many cumulative all star appearances each team may have.
    - Must have at least one player from every decade. Name a decade for 3 players (one for 1980s, one for 1990s, one for 2000s), everyone else is judged simply by prime, no matter when that prime happened.
    - In addition, you may have only one player who was an all star in 2010s (2010-11 or later).

    Questions:
    How many all star games?
Do you want each team to name one player for 2010s too? Or just 80s, 90s and 2000s?

    UPDATED RULES:

    - The pool of draftable players is anyone that has played in at least one NBA game from the 1979-1980 season to now.
    - In addition, you may have only one player who made his first all star game in 2010 or later.

I think 25 is a good number. But definitely no higher than that. Definitely around 20 as LCAhmed said.

I support having a limit on the 2010 players (for the reason that guys from that decade have played in fewer all star games). But what do others think?

I like difficult drafts. I always vote for lowest cap because it provides for actually GM work.

For that I say 20 games. Makes it much less likely to have super teams and a more competitive balance.

I strongly recommend only one player for the 10's

That 2010 rule would work like this right now: you can't have both Durant and Harden on the team, because both were all stars in 2010s. But you can have lets say Durant and Ibaka, because Ibaka wasn't an all star.

As a side effect, that rule affects some of the older today's players too. For example, you can't have Kobe and Duncan together, because they both were all stars in 2010s. That's not a tragedy, but it's also not really intended, and maybe we should adjust that rule somehow to let people pair such older current guys.

But I don't want to make rules over complicated. Suggestions? Or just leave as it is?

Maybe only one with the first all-star appearance after 2010. So you can pair Kobe with Curry, but not Curry with Harden.

I'm not commish, I just started the thread. Jamers and Jmc will be making draft lists and doing all the other stuff, since they never do it.

Yep, I like that. Maybe lets make it 2010 inclusive, because Durant's first is in 2009-10.

There are some guys who don't get included and who still are going to get multiple AS games, like LeBron, CP3, but it's not too bad, they have quite many already.

Can you edit your first post and add updated rules? I can't edit mine.
